Vaccines When Pregnant

I would like to take this opportunity to stress that pregnant women should get the flu and H1N1 vaccine. Why? Because pregnant women are at a greater risk to become sicker from the flu than the rest of the population. They are also more likely to be hospitalized and are at a greater risk of death.

Pregnant women should also receive prophlactic antiviral treatment after exposure to the flu virus. In addition, they should seek antiviral treatment in case of signs and symptoms of the flu and H1N1.

Here's to living well,

Dr. Lisa Masterson

Dear Dr. Lisa, what about all the risks that are being discussed with this vaccine?  The permanent nerve damage?

That's what I was thinking--same as damsell--what about the potential nerve damage---and who knows what else.

Is it safe to get either the regular flu shot or the H1N1 shot while pregnant if you have never had a flu vaccine before? Could it cause more harm then good since your body is not use to having a flu shot and then get one while your pregnant?

Dr Lisa,

Please i would like to know if its normal not to feel like having sex in pregnancy. I am currently 7 months pregnant and i just feel like being left alone all night. My husband isnt happy about this and i Know this could create avenue for infidelity as we always fight about this issue. He s of the opinion that pregnant women love to have sex and ours is different.

I also have muscle pull in the mornings when i stretch. Does it have anything to do with a food nutrient deficiency. My husband suggested that it could be calcium deficiency. If he's right, what foods could i eat to get cacium. Please could you send the reply to my e-mail: amra4ever2000@yahoo.com.

Please help Dr Lisa. I need your expert advice.
