Hi Blog-o-philes,
I am running out of salutation ideas! People always ask me, "What are some home remedies for crow’s feet?"
While I am in the business of fixing this sort of thing, there are certainly some preventative measures you can take. Crow’s feet are created by the flexion of the orbicularis oculi muscle, which is a circular, sphincter-like muscle that surrounds the eye. the muscle protects the eye from brightness and physical contact. For example, we squint to protect our eyes when it's sunny out, or when we’re in high winds.
The best way to avoid developing crow’s feet is to avoid using the orbicularis oculi muscle as best you can:
- Wear a hat or visor.
- Use sunglasses during the day, even on overcast days, as the UV rays can cause you to squint.
- Keep your skin moisturized.
- Use sunscreen.
- Exfoliate the eye area with a buff-puff type cleansing pad or a liquid scrub that has a gritty consistenc
If all this fails, make an appointment with a plastic surgeon or dermatologist. Read more about crow's feet.

Where were you 30yrs ago when I needed that advice? It's to late now I have them.I do clean and moisturize everyday.I use Oil Of Olay products and they really help.

I just wanted to add my comments about crows feet, at almost age 50 I don't have any! How did I do that with no Botox or surgery? I started wearing sunglasses in my 20's everyday, sun, snow, fog, clouds, it doesn't matter, I have different tinted glasses for different days and I NEVER squint, that's the key. People don't realize that even on cloudy days, there is some sunlight. The second thing that I do is I drink at least 64 ounces of water everyday, and have been doing so since my 30's. The third thing I do work out everyday another thing I've been doing since my 30's. I eat right, but enjoy what I want when I want it in small portions. I sleep well, 7-8 hours/night. Last, but not least I use drugstore products for mature skin, Oil of Olay, LOreal and these days it's ROC, they all do pretty much the same thing. My point is that I do ALL of these things and I feel that looking and feeling young is a culmination of all of those things. The key is that you MUST start when you are young, a woman cannot wait until she is 40 and then looks in the mirror shocked, by then it's too late.
dr. ordon--what do you know about a new clinical trial using a type of needle injection treatment that "freezes" the muscles at the site? no visible skin damage, no injecting botulism toxin (bo-tox), and it's supposed to last as long as bo-tox. i participated in this trial in january and already my crow's feet are greatly diminished. have you heard any buzz about this, and if so, do you have any feedback??
Hi Dr. Ordon;
First off, i enjoy watching the show very much. My problem isn't with crows feet- it is with bags under my eyes. I am a man in his late 30's who has been told he looks much older becuase of these bags. On top of this, i will be looking for a job soon and want to look as youthful as possible. I have tried various OTC skin creams such as 10,000 IU Vitamin A as well as Vitamin E at 30,000 IU (with varying degrees of success) I would love to get surgery to correct my bags... I would feel so much more confident and i could show off the new me to my spouse Susan and our 6 year old daughter... Thanks for your time, Dr. O.
