Regarding yesterday's show, I’m surprised that during a show that talks about the necessity for good bacteria in and on the body, Dr. Lisa recommends antibiotics for a bacterial infection. Dr. Ordon has also given the advice to "get on an antibiotic" if you get a sinus infection. Antibiotics kill good bacteria! The Doctor’s have done shows on MRSA, yet they keep advising "antibiotics". They don't even say, "make sure you take a probiotic supplement."
Look at Norway. They have practically NO cases of MRSA, and they DO NOT give out antibiotics for simple infections, ONLY life-threatening bacterial infections. Doctors in Norway advise patients that antibiotics don't work for cold viruses, and that if they have a bacterial infection, it will go away in a week or two if they are healthy--they do not give out antibiotics for sinus infections or other bacterial infections. Studies have shown that a bacterial infection clears up on its own the same amount of time it takes if you were given an antibiotic. In Norway, penicillin is still a strong, powerful antibiotic. Here in the U.S., penicillin is now weak and considered practically useless (My source for all of the above is an episode of Dan Rather Reports).
The point is, we need to reduce antibiotic use in this country, and The Doctor's should pave the way and not advocate a pill for this and a pill for that, but rather try and find ways to improve our health and boost our immunity so that we don't get infections in the first place. Chronic infections is a sign of poor health, and continual antibiotic use by someone in poor health is only going to make their health much worse!
I haven’t taken antibiotics since 2001. Have I had infections? Yes. They go away. They irritate you and put a cramp in your everyday activities, but a healthy person can fight them off. I take probiotics, and I make sure I am eating right and taking immune boosting supplements. IF I need antibiotics for a life-threatening infection, I KNOW they will work!

I miss the show yesterday but when Dr. oz show was talking about this, he mention probiotics. i take probiotics everyday.
YES! I watch Dr. Oz all the time and he always recommends taking a probiotic, especially when you take antibiotics. Last week Dr. Oz even said that probiotics are anti-inflammatories, so it's good to take for weight loss...The Doctor's never really mention probiotics, only that it's in yogurt, and to eat yogurt if you can.
