17 Day Diet Tips to get you through the day

If you are hungry by mid-afternoon, here's a favorite go-to snack for me.  A bowl of cherry tomatoes or baby heirloom tomatoes (from Trader Joes).  Get about a cup's worth.  Rinse them off and put in a bowl.  Drizzle just a dash of olive oil, swish the bowl around to coat them with oil, and sprinkle lightly with Morton Lite Salt.  You're allowed to have unlimited cleansing veggies for lunch, so my thought process is that these are just extra that I could have had at lunchtime!  If you've successfully cut out sugar like I have, the tomatoes will taste so sweet, it's quite a treat.

The calories are low, you're getting water from the tomatoes, which fills you up, and a dash of fat to keep you satiated.  Better yet, have it with one of your alloted eggs (hard boiled, or any style).  The protein will hold you over till dinner (a tip I learned from a fellow 17 day dieter!)

Please share your tips!  Thanks!

Another quick snack, IF you have a healthy fat tablespoon to spare, is organic celery and a tablespoon of almond or peanut butter.  This one is a bit tough for me because I want to eat more than a tablespoon!  Try organic celery, where the stalks don't seem overly huge.  I've tried huge organic celery from Trader Joes, and it was practially tasteless.  Smaller, organic celery stalks are sweeter!  Trust me, I've experimented with them all...

And the olive oil can be the "friendly fat" part for the day.

It took me four days to figure out how to space my food out to prevent hunger. I have breakfast (scrambled egg beaters) and make a fruit bowl of an apple, orange, few grapes and blueberries. I split this up into two bowls. Have some with my eggs and some as a snack for 10:30am. I have lunch around noon--I made the vegetable soup and have enjoyed it all week. I then have my second half of my fruit right at 1:45pm. My first yogurt is eaten around 3:30 or 4pm. Dinner around 6pm. Last yogurt as a snack before bedtime. Lots of water in between. I was not hungry at all yesterday.

A person will find healthy ways to lose weight rely upon the situation. Healthy Diet Snacks Healthy diet snacks are good for your health and enable you to maintain a healthy lifestyle. This sounds like a lot, but a serving is actually fairly small. Use this plan along with exercise and you will see results.

LOVE this diet!!!  I am on day 16 today and have lost 13 pounds already.....I feel very refreshed and am excited to keep going.....I am going to buy the cookbook today as the recipes on here are getting old for me and I want to see what recipes it has to offer for cycle 2.  The plum tomatoes are a great tip....thanks!!!  I do have a question, are we allowed peanut butter in cycle 1?  I didnt' think that was allowed until cycle 3....I could be wrong since I"m still learning as I go.....:)

Good job! Nice blog! Vegetables are really the best healthy way to maintain a stable lifestyle. Good that you are a vegetarian, but how about for those that do not want vegetables? :) Well, a healthy and nutritious shake is right for you.

RobynP12, technically peanut butter is not allowed for cycle 1 according the the book, but I "cheated" during cycle 1 by having a tablespoon of almond butter every so often.  As long as I stuck to 1 tablespoon I was okay...my problem is I just want a little more...then a little more!  I have to watch out.

And you would still have one alloted tablespoon for your olive or flaxseed oil.  (I think cycle 1 says 1-2 tbsp of friendly fat)  So it's up to you in the end.  I feel that it's acceptable because the calories are about the same as a tablespoon of oil.

Makes sense GreenFish and quite honestly I would love to have just a tablespoon every so often, but like you, I would want more.  I do think I may allow myself to do that though.  It would help with some cravings.  Are there any recipe links for cycle 2 recipes or would you suggest buying the book?

GreenFish

Do you mean the cookbook?  I don't have it, yet.  I don't even have the 17DD book itself, I've been borrowing it from the library!  I refer to it almost every day.  There are a few recipes regarding cycle 2 in the 17DD book, including Dr. Mike's cookie recipe!  It's worth checking out.
