Every time I go to the Indian grocery store by my house, especially in the morning, they burn sooo much incense that I can see the smoke up in the air by the ceiling. When I leave the store, my stomach is burning, I can taste the incense in my mouth and I can smell it in my nostrils. I end up spitting and blowing my nose right there in the parking lot. My hair is permeated with the smell of incense that day. I have even avoided going during the morning hours when it is at its worst.
I have been to other Indian grocery stores in neighboring cities and they also burn incense in the morning as a sign of good luck or protection, I'm assuming. They just burn a little bit of incense right when they open for the day, it never bothers me like this other one closer to my house.
Is burning so much incense dangerous? There's a connecting Indian vegetarian restaurant that also burns incense. I'm always worried about the people eating there, if they have children eating there as well, not to mention the employees that have to work there all day. Is it just me who is sensitive to this? It doesn't seem to bother anyone else, so it seems.

Thanks Melissa, that article was sooo informative. Looks like it is dangerous...I knew that burning feeling in my stomach couldn't be normal. What I end up doing is making a grocery list ahead of time, getting in and getting out quick, then I go home and make myself a veggie/avocado/fruit smoothie to ease the burn and wash away all those toxins! I'm gonna check out ask.com now for more info. Thanks again!
