Prevent Cancer Part 1: http://www.thedoctorstv.com/GreenFish/posts/14258-Prevent-Cancer-and-Improve-Your-Health
Our bodies produce a small amount of inflammation as part of it's defense mechanism. That's normal. When we accidentally cut ourselves, bump our knee, or strain a muscle, inflammation is needed as part of our body's healing process. When our bodies are healed, the inflammation reduces and goes away. Again, that's a normal, healthy process. But when we choose too many of the wrong inflammatory foods, are totally stressed out, don't get up and move, we are creating an abundance of inflammation that can lead to heart disease and CANCER!
Here's a list of anticancer foods from the Nutrition Almanac, 6th edition by John Kirschmann:
Asparagus, barley, basil, berries, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cabbage, cantaloupe, carrots, cauliflower, celery, chili pepper, chives, citrus fruits, cucumber, daikon, eggplant, fennel, fenugreek, flaxseed, garlic, ginger, lentils, licorice, melons, mints, miso, mushrooms, mustard greens, oats, olive oil, onions, oregano, papaya, parsley, parsnips, peppers, potatoes, brown rice, rosemary, rutabagas, sage, seafood, soybeans, tarragon, black/green/oolong tea, thyme, tomatoes, turmeric, turnips, winter squash.
Practically any and all fruits and veggies and herbs and spices! Eat a plant-based diet for optimum health!
Just wanted to note that the above list contains fruits, veggies, spices, and oils that are all ANTI-INFLAMMATORY. A diet rich in anti-inflammatory foods can prevent cancer. In fact, a very good book called Anticancer: A New Way of Life by David Servan-Schreiber, MD, PhD, talks about the importance of eliminating proinflammatory toxins from our environment, adopting an anticancer diet, seeking emotional balance, and satisfying our body's need for physical exertion. Here's his Table on page 48:
