Not Losing Weight!
So I'm on Day 16 of my 31 Day Diet to To Lose 5 Pounds...and the scale hasn't budged. I lost 2 pounds right away, but now my body is catching on and is making it harder for me to lose the 3 more pounds I want to lose. Your body in general, does not want you to lose weight the closer you are to your goal/normal weight. Something about way back in the caveman days...
Also, the scale has stayed the same because last week was leading up to "that time of the month," and as of today, I'm at the tail end of it...will be over tomorrow! So, all week my water weight was high, so who knows, when my water weight sheds completely, maybe I have lost that 3rd pound! In any case, I have till August 31st to reach my goal...it's still do-able, I think!
Getting A Urinary Tract Infection!
Also, last weekend, after my husband and I "you-know-what," I felt a slight pain after urinating, and my urinary "area" (urethra?) felt a bit inflamed. It went away all through the week while I was on my period. Then last night, I started to feel the pain coming on, and the feeling of having to go pee. This morning it was worse!
I'm going to attack this UTI head on and get rid of it fast! I had a blueberry smoothie this morning with one cup of blueberries (they help cure UTIs). I had a large dose of probiotics...2 pills = 58 BILLION live active cultures (http://www.gardenoflife.com/ProductsforLife/RAWDIGESTION/RAWProbioticsWomen/tabid/2015/Default.aspx).
I went to Trader Joes this morning and bought 100% cranberry juice (it also kills urinary bacteria)...the ingredients should only say "100% cranberry juice," it should be 70 calories per cup, and it should be really, really, really tart! I went home just now and made a UTI Be-gone cocktail:
1 cup of 100% cranberry juice
1 cup coconut water (regular water is fine)
1 tablespoon stevia powder
Blend it in a blender! Drink up!
I'm going to have another one later this afternoon. This counts as my liquid for the day, so that by the end of the day I will have totaled about 10 cups of water/liquid. Then I'll repeat this tomorrow.
I'm going to start making 100% cranberry juice part of my everyday diet...also dried cranberries, which I love in a serving of mixed nuts! I read that what I'm doing now--when I already have the UTI--is not as effective as incorporating cranberry into my everyday diet. It's better at preventing UTIs in the first place if you always consume it on a regular basis.
I'm also taking extra Vitamin C, 1000mg. Vitamin C helps to fight bacteria.
