My wife and I didn't actually sit with flash cards and teach our son. When my son was around 3 months old we let him watch Baby Einstein. Our son was fascinated with them. If you had cartoons turned on he would not stay focused and usaully started to play with toys, with Baby Einstein he wouldn't turn away. After he turned 2 we introduced the Leap Frog Leapster. This little electronic game taught him how to read, write and simple math. At the age of 3-3 1/2, he was writing upper and lower case letters and even started to write words. By the time he went into Kindergarten he could write his whole name, read and do simple math (adding) we think that this was a big help. Now that he is in 1st grade he has straight A's and has done nothing but excelled. (other than my other blog...he's a chatter box) So for all the new parents out there, you do what you think is good for your child, though try the Baby Einstein DVD's and the Leapster. You'll be shocked with the results...hagd

i am not a parent yet. but i have baby cousins and friends that have babies lol. i always wondered if the lipster actually worked or if it was considered bad bc of it bein a video game or computer game. and i am really glad to hear about the baby einsteins wrking too. people always get contraversal when i mention those to them bc they dont want to sit there kid down in front of the tv bc that will cause them to do it later in life. but i always tell them i think it depends on what is on or what they are playing. But i am really happy those help and work i will keep that in mind for when i have kids. Thank You.
My son who is 11 months right now is the same way he will watch the baby einstein videos but if you turn on regular cartoons or tv he isn't interested. I let him watch these because they are so educational it's nice to hear that your child has excelled so much from them. Thanks!
