Bad news...

Well,  I got my blood test results back today.  It says I have Stage III Chronic Kidney Disease.  My eGRF level was really low..below 60.  I also have Leukocytes in my urine,  which means I have a urinary infection or my kidneys are not working like they should.  Some other test showed my body has too much water...something with my body is not able to get rid of it, I guess.  All the medical jargon is very confusing.

Does anyone know about this?  I am just wondering what is going to happen to me. I eat a well balanced diet,  I eat lots of veggies.  Anyways,  if anyone has info on this,  please let me know. Thank you.

Take care,  Jeff

Jeff,

So sorry to hear about your bad news, I was hoping all the tests would come out negative.I do hope that the doctors find a way to control this so that you can live a healthy anf full life and that you can spend lots of time with your son and family.

If I can do anything for you please let know and I will do all I can.

Jeff,

Sorry about the bad news. Did the Dr. give you a diuretic for the fluid build up? You may not be able to take one but seems like they can give you something.

All I can tell you is to research all the stuff they said is wrong. Sometimes you can find out more on the internet than the doctors will tell you.

Keep us posted.

with  the  eGFR test  Estiamted Glomerular Filtration Rate. It has alot of it depends . Like if your very muscular. they will probably check it again in a few weeks or so. Did they say how much below 60 it was? Did they give you an antibiotic for the leukocytes ?  You mentioned that a tests you had showed that you  have toomuch water in your body, did they mention a diuretic ? Your kidneys work as a filter . Also if your a smoker you should stop. I wish I could give you more. but thats about all I know and rememeber. Also one more thing do you feel week and tired ? people in stage 3 often have anemia. Did they check for that too ?  My grandmother went through this years ago. I hope I helped a little bit.

I wish you lots of luck !!

Best wishes

Lisa

Hey Jeff...I just started working in the medical field and I am a kidney dialysis technician.  I don't know a ton about kidney disease, but I am learning a lot.

First thing...restrict your fluid intake.  Drink just a little bit when you are thirsty only.  Your kidneys are having a problem processing fluids and the more you take in, the worse you will be.  If you have too much fluid that the kidneys cannot process you could end up with edema and CHF (the fluid has no place to go so it will travel throughout your body and could end up building around your other organs...heart, lungs, etc) CHF is congestive heart failure and it is basically fluid around your heart.

You must watch your calcium and potassium levels.  If you do not have a nephrologist, get one asap.  Call your Dr and get a nutritionist that specializes in kidney disease.  There are a lot of fruits/veggies that you cannot eat/drink because of the water/fluid content.   I know that a lot of my patients take tums a few times a day for the calcium, but you really need to have your levels checked before starting anything like that.

Are you diabetic?  Have your A1C levels checked because we have a lot of patients that are diabetic and I know that goes hand and hand with kidney disease...not all patients with kidney disease are diabetics, but make sure you get that testing done too just to be on top of things.

The sooner you get on top of it, the better off you will be....be sure to get to a good kidney doc in your area and definitely get to a nutritionist it is imperative to get your diet in order for your kidneys in case it is definitely kidney disease.  That way whether or not it is kidney disease, you will be on top of  your game.

Best of luck to you!!

Jeff,

Please continue to praise God for good and bad news. "Hang in There"

You don't want to know what my family and I are going through. As always I ask God's guidance and mercy that I don't even deserve of. But God Loves us all Unconditionally. Joyce Meyer says: Don't go to the phone ; call on God ! The family and I will pray for all of you. Also we will request a prayer for you and your family on Sunday at the Pentecostal church, Vancouver British Columbia.

I hope you will find a solution to your health issue.
