Do I REALLY need to excercise?

I have always been an out doors girl....a "tomboy". Even tho I am nearly 60 years old I still love working hard outside. My husband was in a trucking accident and has had several surgeries on his back, so I am the one cutting and hauling the wood, working in the yard all summer and going mining for gemstones on the desert. Yes! I am the old lady you saw in the rock pit! Ha Ha. So I haven't really worked hard at exercising, thinking all of this work kept me fit.

I was 5' 11" from the time I was 14. My parents encouraged me to be proud of my height and always stand tall. Caring for my daughter and a car wreck 6 years ago has caused me to loose 2 1/2 inches in height and a lot of back pain. Since signing up for this program I have been working out routinely. Not only have I firmed up, gotten great muscle definition in my arms, but it has helped my back, also!

I work with 2-8lb free weights and my old "lateral thigh trainer" (still haven't figured out what I am training my thighs to do!) (I have seen both of these type items at yard sale and second hand stores, if you are interested in looking for them)

Good for you. Keep on moving & you are so right about exercising with weights. I have started to see less flab on my arms & my back feels much better now that I'm not lugging around an extra 30 pounds. The best part about using weights & toning is that after all the weight is taken off you aren't left with a bunch of skin hanging off your bones. The muscle takes it's place but it looks much better than the fat ever did. I do all of the yard work here & last year I was always pooped when I was done. This year I think will be a whole different deal for me. I think I'll have enough energy to plant a nice big vegetable garden & still be able to cut the grass & tend to the flowerbeds. I'll also be happy to be able to wear cute tanktops & shorts while I'm out there. :)

Kudos to you girl!!  Keep up the good work!!  That is the only way to good health, besides good eating habits.  :))))
