well tonight i struggled a whole lot with dinner tonight...we had our usual friday night dinner...me my salad with chicken on it...huge salad...
Mike has lamb souvlaki with potatoes and greek salad and garlic bread (white bread) with it...i generally love eating it and have eaten it every friday night...regretted it the next day and when i got on the scale...
tonight i fought the temptation and tossed it in the garbage...Mike won't eat it...the bread is too hard for him...Mike stood there while i looked at it and tossed it...he said good, proud of you...you don't need it...mom said it was just in my head that i was hungry...no i was hungry...i only ate a salad at lunch today and brekkie was so far long ago..
so i had green tea and yogurt...that sort of satisfied me. however the exercise class i am going to tomorrow has given me a low cal low carb alternative to garlic bread.
i will post on the recipe section...

Good control Lorie...power!!!!!!!!! we'll show food whose boss:). Keep up the good work!!
When I was growing up we had bread on the table at every meal. At breakfast it waswhite toast with eggs or french toast or pancakes. At lunch it was a hamburger roll, sub roll or white bread for a sandwich . At dinner there was a loaf of white bread or sometimes homemade bread with butter as a "side" dish to whatever entree we had. I have to say I do not miss white bread at all. I miss rye & pumpernickle breads. They have been my favorites for years. I have not had white bread in some time now. I always pass on the bread basket at restaurants & Olive Garden's endless breadsticks. I just don't have any urge to eat them anymore. Hopefully you will get to the same point Lorie. Save the calories for something with more flavor!
thank you skinnygirldreams...i am going to be posting that recipe i got from my new exercise guru...for alternative garlic bread...
nepa girl....i love the grain breads, pumpernickel etc...but this garlic bread is just so yummy...and for me it is a treat of the week but i always feel so bloated, feet puff etc..and seem to gain weight from just eating it once...so i will just stay away...the recipe i have will satisfy me...
Lorie it's the garlic that makes the flavor so garlic up something else instead of bread...Try some garlic smashed caulflower perhaps
Way to go Lori !!!!!!!!!!!
the alternative to the garlic bread is using whole wheat pita bread and then slicing it up after you bake it...so i will use that...for some reason the idea of garlic and cauliflower just don't do it for me...lol...
mind you this all being said apparently i make a mean salsa...lol...Mike keeps asking for it and i don't have a recipe...i just do it...like my grandmother use to do...cook without a recipe...
Lorie you are going to reach your goal sooner than you think with willpower like that. Way to go!!
LOL..cooking without a recipe...a lost art. My mom & grandmother did it all the time & made some great stuff. Today everyone just wants to open a package & add a liquid or pop something into a microwave. It's no wonder we're (the nation) having weight issues. I think the cooking thing in my family was due to being in the depression. You had to know your ingredients & know how far you could stretch them.
so true..trying to learn to cook and bake with my grandmother always posed a problem...no one could duplicate what she was making...especially butterscotch pies...my fave...she was the only one who could do it and she never told anyone how to make it including me...
i am loving to cook and bake, it tastes so much better than opening a package or putting something in the microwave...you are right nepa girl...we have become a society of weight problems...and salt...oy!! don't even get me started...lol...i no longer use the stuff...only for my mom's potatoes on sunday...
