Maggot Therapy

HI, I WAS ON LAST WEEKS SHOW ON THE TEN TOP MEDICAL TRENDS FOR 2009. IT WAS MY FOOT AND A STORY ON MAGGOT THERAPY. THOUGH NOT ALL THE BENEFITS OF MAGGOT THERAPY WERE TOLD. A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE NOW DOING THE RESEARCH TO LEARN AOBUT IT AND ALL THAT MAGGOTS CAN DO. THEY ARE FDA APPROVED AND DO MORE THAN JUST EAT DEAD INFECTED TISSUE. DO YOU KNOW ENOUGH ABOUT THIS THERAPY TO USE TO SAVE YOUR LIMB OR LIFE???

I'm glad your here, I was watching the show and I wondered if that could help me.  I have recurrent MRSA, the superbug, due to a weakened immune system, probably due to Lupus, they can not get completely rid of the MRSA, it just keeps coming back.  I had a 3 inch hole in my abdomin at one point and it wouldn't heal even after we got rid of the infection, I packed it for 3 months before it finally closed.  My MRSA is now resistant to every drug except Bactrum, and Vancomyacin, the doctors say once those drugs quit working I'll die.  Scientist are saying no new drug will be available for maybe 25 years.  I hate the thought of wiggly bugs in me, but do you think it would work on something like that?  I told my husband it might be cheaper than some of the things we've tried, he thinks they are probably special bred and expensive, you've done it what do you think?

Yes, maggots can heal MRSA too! I just wrote a long, long answer for you and somehow it got deleted UGH! So hear is the short one. Maggots are FDA approved and raised and disinfected for medicinal purposes only BUT they are still cheap. $80.00 for the maggots and shipping over night. (Insurance should pay as there is a code for them)Most people only need three or four treatment depending on size and depth of wound. Maggots do three things. Eat JUST the dead infected tissue,(do not touch good like surgery) They kill all the bacteria, and best of all they excrete enzymes to promote healing. They stay in for two days and then are taken out. IF they bother you too much they can come out early but always better to let them do their thing. Anyone can do doc, nurse, tech, patients have done themselves. BUT you have to have a prescription from a doctor since they are FDA approved. They are actually used around the country and at big names hospitals but most do not want to be known for using maggots. Of course there is no money to be made either. Unfortunately I find the biggest battle is the ignorance, and arrogance on doctors parts to do the research and learn how maggots do work and all they can do. It is written up in all kinds of medical journals. IF you want more info for you or your docs feel free to email me at Pamsmaggotinfo@aol.com. They is also more info on BTERFoundation.org. I do not make any money informing people about maggot therapy. My mission is to help others not have to go through what I did for two years and all the side effects from the antibiotics that almost killed me. Maggots are side effect free and less evasive than surgeries. So be your own advocate and save your life maybe and have hope...... there is always hope!

Pam I am all for this now.I wish all the insurance companys would get on board. It is also like Cancer,They has to be an easier softer way for people but Docs ar going to fight it..Means less cash in their pockets.

I have seen this therapy twice on t.v. now, I believe in it. I say anything that can save limb

or life is worth trying, although I think it would be hard to see maggots on me or know that

they are there. Sludge.

Thanks Sheilah I appreciate it. You would not believe all the calls and emails I have gotten from people desperate to save their limbs and lives or those of a loved one. Now we just need more doctors to be educated and learn and offering it to patients. Are there any doctors out there who really care about patients and not money? Is there any who will do the research to learn how well maggots do work? I loved being on the doctors but my goal would be a really top top show to reach even more people and doctors.

I guess my poll should be on how many docs actually know about maggot therapy. Feel free to respond doctors!!!!!

Thanks again Sheilah, and have a great day I have to get back to maggot business and my mission.

this very intersting to me. becasue my ex-husband had a real bad wound after getting attacked by a bear. the flies kept landing on his leg and they laid maggots.  the maggots are what safed his leg.   i am so excited about this.

thank-you for posting this.  this is so neat.  :)

Pamelanoah

Wow a bear?? Yes, maggot are amazing little creatures. BUT the ones they use are raised , disinfected and used just for medicinal purposes. (Cheap too $85.00)They are also a certain kind "Green Bottle Blow Fly". To tell you the truth if I got another ulcer or wound that would not heal and for some reason I could not get medicinal maggots I would let flies land on me to lay eggs. It may not be the best way to do it but I still believe better than amputation or a wound that never heals. What a great story you have to share.

Thanks,

Pam
