Sweetie was a stray cat nobody was feeding. I took to feeding her outside, not knowing if she was a she or he. I knew Sweetie would not come into my home as a domesticated cat...I tried that and it most assuredly did not work! Once the colder weather came she would come inside the apartment BUILDING, but not my unit. She'd warm up and wander around while I talked with her. One of those days she walked up to my door and looked at me. I opened the door and in she walked. I waited for her to come back but after 10 minutes I went looking for her. There she was on my bed quite comfy. She had adopted me just days before Christmas. I was glad the Humane Society gave me some food and litter/litter box until I could get out and get some. Then come February 8, she gave birth to FIVE kittens; 4 boys and 1 girl. That was 8 days before my birthday. Sweetie gave me the gift of companionship, then she gave me a gift I cannot give myself - she gave birth to 5 new lives. I cannot have children and she gave me a chance to witness it. I'm ever grateful that she walked into my life. Whoever let her go, has no idea of the blessings they missed out on. All 5 kittens are now in happy, safe homes, having been adopted out through the Humane Society. :)
