Ok, so I started the 17 day diet on Monday. I have great support from my husband. He is always making sure I'm eating the right things and exercising. However, we live with the in-laws. And while they support me in my efforts, they pass me the potatoes and bread and make snarky comments like, "oh..oops..hahaha...you can't have those!" or "don't you wish you could have a bite of this right now?". Yeah, makes me want to just give in and say screw it all. But I haven't yet.
I made it through 2.5 days. I'm so proud of myself. However, I have had little tiny slip ups..like forgetting to drink my green tea at a couple meals, or ate a couple grapes at 8:00pm as I packed my lunch for the next day. I don't feel like a failure at all because I've done better these few days than I probably ever have on a diet.
Today, day 3, I'm ready to climb the wall for cheesy bread and chocolate.
AHHH!
Seriously. My toungue feels weird, like I've been sucking on a piece of metal, and I can't seem to get full even if I eat all the veggies in the world. I'm not sure if this is all part of the detox portion, but I suppose we will see how I feel tomorrow. And the day after. And the day after.
I don't want to quit because I feel like this could really work, but I also don't want to stay on something that isn't going to work. I'm giving this a week, and if I don't see results it's time to go see my Dr. because that simply means, nothing is working. Everything else I have tried has failed in some way. So this is the final test.
I'm praying that this will do great things for me and that all the "side effects" or "abnormalities" will go aways soon.
Here's to finishing day 3 and moving on to day 4 tomorrow.

Have you followed every step of the 17 Day Diet without a mess up?

| Vote Yes! I follow everything perfectly! Eat what I'm supposed to when I'm supposed to and follow every word Dr. Mike says! | |
| Vote I occasionally miss a tea or lemon water and accidently pop a chip without thinking about it. I'm ok with that. | |
| Vote No way! I "mess up" all the time and use the book as a suggestion. | |

I think you are detoxing from all that excess sugar and sodium from your OLD diet! This is a new diet that, once you start feeling good, you want to stay on it. I followed this diet kind of loosely, cheated at times here and there with small things, no binging. I had to modify for being vegetarian, but it seemed to work, as long as I stayed away from sugar! Salty food cravings was not a problem for me too much, because I'm a sugar addict (former...read my blog here on how I quit sugar!). But if you can quit sugar and bread, then the weight will come off no matter what diet you are on!
how are you doing today? are you still on it?
Yeah, are you hanging in there? If not, try again...it's okay to scratch that and start again ;)
I have, sadly, stopped at this point. Not because I really wanted to, but because I had to for the time being. We are currently living with my in-laws until we close on our new house. They have told me I was difficult to cook for so my husband and I decided to wait until we are back in our own surrounding. We are taking using as much of it as we can without altering everything for the inlaws..but I want to get back on the strict side of it. I lost 8 lbs the first week!!!! I was so happy! But I will do it again soon!
I can understand that, it's hard to lose weight when others around you aren't on the same page. Just like during the holidays, relatives of mine are always pushing/pressuring me to eat, try this, try that! No! I'm trying to eat healthy! Well, good luck and keep us posted!
