Hi,
I think I might have a deviated septum. We live in Dayton, Ohio and they have the worst sinus season here. I grew up in the South and it's nowhere near as bad as here.
I am seeing an ENT and considering sinus surgery....a little scared because when my husband had his a vein did not cauterize and he ended up bleeding a lot....so much so he had to be admitted because he lost so much blood and his blood pressure was 55/45.
Anyway, has anyone had GOOD results from this procedure?

WOW, sounds like you need to do alot more research for yourself on sinus conditions and allergies. I just recently went to my doc and he was sure i was getting all these headaches whether they were sinus or migraines were all due to sinus cavities being blocked and so &so on, well after an MRI and a CT scan everything was normal yeah i had a little bit of a deviated septum but that was not the problem either. Maybe you could find out just what it is you think you might be allergic to and you might not even need surgery. And AWAYS make sure your doc has had great succes in his/her feild and ask to talk with one or two of the patients to see if it even works, SO BE CAREFUL and do your homework first hope this helps you. you can always write me back if you think i can be of any more help. Margie
I live in DELAWARE OHIO but I moved here from NJ!~
My plastic Surg moved to LICKING HOSPITAL DR JAMES JEFFERIES AND HE IS WONDERFUL.
I still Do not know the lay out of the STATE but he gave me a tummy tuck and back in NJ all the nurses would go to him for minor stuff too!
He is just wonderful!

Thanks to both of you for commenting. That's great advice, always lonely. I have been getting severe migraines and lots of pressure in my cheekbones and above my eyes on my forehead. It's a lot of pressure always too and even when the pain is not there it is heavy....like someone a ton is sitting on my face. I was given Dilaudid in the emergency room and that did not even clear it up. From a child, I have always been allergic to Sudafed. It has always had the opposite reaction on me. I get hyperactivity...and almost felt like I was having a seizure after I.V. Benadryl. It was especially bad when they mixed it with I.V. Compazine. I did not get the reaction to Benadryl when they mixed or gave at the same time as an opiate. I bet because those are depressants and any hyper or upper effect would be diminished with the use of those.
sometimes when you think it is a sinus headache it might be a different type of headache, i experiance this all the time to the point you really can't tell whats what anymore. I have also gone to the emergency room for treatment and Morphine seems to help along with an antinausea along with it. Try that one time an see if it helps and if it does then you know it is not a sinus headache, OOOOOOOhhhhhhh they are all so painful, and yes the pressure thing is a killer all by itself too. Well let me know what you think FEEL FOR YOU YOU, margie
Yes. I had a sinus surgery to fix a deviated septum and remove polyps 15+ years ago and again 1 1/2 years ago. (I have allergies & chronic sinusitis) I had it in the hospital both times. But I never had any problems with excessive blood loss. The worst for me was having to prop up after the surgery because it bothered my neck. I really needed a good recliner. Also, not being able to blow your nose-only gently sniff was not fun. But it made a big difference with my sinus infections. I used to feel when I was sick like I had my sinuses packed to my lower cheekbones! I was 49 when I had my last surgery. I wish you the best with whatever you choose !
Thanks guys! I saw the ENT in West Chester, OH the other day near Cinci and he said I have a deviated septum, but did the CT scan and did not see anything weird. He said I was not congested on it....but it's strange, Mucinex-DM is working and I am sleeping SO much better. That is not for headaches.... I do know that. I know I had some lesions on my MRI that made the Air Force order more testing for Multiple Sclerosis, but the spinal tap was negative. It was scary...and at the time, the Neuro said I had some inflammation. I have Interstitial Cystitis ( a disease of the bladder which can cause some inflammation) and really think it could be that my immune system is overactive. I know one thing is that I will NEVER take real Sudafed again, doctor's orders or not....I was so hyperactive when I took that. My muscles jerked all night long!
Anyway, I am posting my CT photos on here if it opens the CD. Maybe someone could chime in....that's a medical professional. I disagree with that ENT's assessment. When I.V. Benadryl combined with Phenergan and Dilaudid work for the headache then it has to be something weird. I has sinuses written all over it to me. My husband just did not listen to the doctor and that's how he got the bleed after the surgery. He sneezed one hard good time and that's all it took.
As for Morphine...well, I am allergic. I don't take it because it causes severe aggression in me.
Anyway, thanks for the comments.
