Opinion on Crestor

Okay folks, most of you know I've been Diabetic since the age of 3 which is..... drum rolll aging myself 39 years of Diabetes.... I'm not one for taking a lot of meds.... but I've been given Crestor to take. (by my endocrinologist).. for my Cholestrol which in the words of my Family Doctor, isn't needed because my numbers aren't bad... but she did say that as a Diabetic she wants it to be lower...

Back on Track with Mind Control

I sidelined myself last night by snacking on a small amount of sweets.  In the past, I would make myself feel defeated and stop the 17DD.  This time, I didn't overdo it on snacking, and I think that this was a huge factor to stay on track.*  It took a lot of mind control this morning to convince myself that the snack was 'okay' last night.  The reason that I stopped Cycle 1 in the...

Einstein was right!

My favorite Einstein quote is, "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results".  Gee, he died almost seven months to the day before I was even born.  It sounds as if he wrote this quote specifically for me.  When I kept repeating Cycle 1over and over again, I just couldn't help but think of this quote.  When I indulge a little bit, I now get myself right back in the...

Truth or Dare Episode

Producers must have totally surprised Dr. Travis with the Dare of having a snake necklace wrapped around him for that episode.  For someone who is totally fearful of snakes, I think he handled the stress well.  Although the poor sweat beads on his forehead were evident that he was truly sweatin this dare.  Not sure if he is cured of that phobia but they always say immersion therapy works.  Not sure Dr. Travis will attest to that...

Oyster party-Sabotage?

Good morning everyone.  I CAN'T BELIEVE IT - the sun is actually shining here in Seattle.  This is a good thing as the next couple of days are going to be quite hectic.  You see, I am hosting my annual Oyster Party tomorrow night at my home for about 20 of my friends.  I am especially excited this year as I haven't seen a couple of them for about 10 years.  But I am also...

hot flash easing up!

I wrote something about hot flashes months ago and that I was having hard time, sweating almost every 15 minutes. But this week I feel good.  I hope and pray that the hot flashes is over for me.  Note: I never take any hormone replacement. I just tolerated it. But I exercise and eat healthy food.

Back in the Saddle...

My 65th birthday weekend is over (Mother's Day weekend too) and my children/grandchildren have all gone home to their own lives in other cities. I had a tremendous weekend! Yes, I made some poor food choices (banana bread too many times, also ate some homemade pizza that my son had created) but the good news is that I did not binge, I did not eat any chocolate (my downfall) and I tried to remember the...

"GREAT" Results by day 5

This is my very first post and I have never ever blogged before on any other sites. I am so excited about this 17 day diet for a few reasons. One, I trust Dr.Phil so I know this plan will work as long as I commit to it and do it right. Two, Dr. Moreno is a cutie (hahah just had to throw that in). Third, its so easy to follow because you get to eat tasty...

17-day Challenge

_______  I am looking forward to joining this community in this 17-day-challenge program because I have been trying to lose just 10 lbs. for a year and it is difficult when you are doing it alone, not to mention when others offer holiday treats.  Sharing my progress with others will be very motivational for me.  I am 5'5" and weigh 152 lbs. I also feel I need body toning.  While others say I don't need...

Cheating?

I have been reading the message boards for quite some time now and I see a lot of people having little "cheats" in this diet.  Things like a square of chocolate, spoon of peanut butter, fruit in the evening, ham, candy, wine (in phase 1) etc.  And while the calorie impact may not amount to much...the salt, sugar, fat, additives and preservatives wreak havoc on your body and de-rail weight loss.  Not to mention the nagging feeling of guilt we...

Day 6!

So this first week has been great! I already can start to notice a change in my body! Not to mention, I have lots more energy! I did not cheat at all this first week(Except one tiny sip I took of a caipirinha. I had to try it cause its one of the first restaurants I've found that make it! Boy was it yummy!). I did feel a little silly eating some salsa without chips at...

R we starting over/just cont'ing?

Hi, I've been out of pocket for a few days, but I am just checking to see how everyone is doing. How are you coming along on 17DD? I just finished cycle 3, but I am going to start cycle 1again shortly.  Are we starting over or just continuing? I know the answer just wondered if I was the only one that thought about it. I would like to say I am starting over but...

Holding babies

Please do a show on the benefits of holding your infant/ child and its relationship to brain development. You had a show on a recall for a device for sleep for babies today. The research has long been around that shows failure to thrive in infants in orphanages. Today we may have another form of this.  Parents are using car seats, swings, and prop up devices to replace holding their child. The fast life style...

allergy

Am I the only one in the world who is allergic to just about everything?!!!! And what do I do about it and still be happy. It took several doctors visits with different doctors, but finally found out...

Keep a diary

I am on day 6 and excited for tomorrow,  "weight in day".  I can only do this once a week.  Does anyone else keep a diary of what you eat.  Only cause I have been on so many diets, that I am doing that this time.  When I open up my computer, I have a list there.  That way when I don't lose what I want, maybe I can go back and see what I...

Getting Back on Track, literally

Looks like I'm getting it back on the walking track. I walked this morning for an hour with my husband. The weather was humid and air was heavy, but we "got'er done!" Even got in some running along the course.  I must say, though, he walks a little slow for me, but I was able to set my pace to his. I generally walk at about 13-15 minutes/mile, while he has slowed down with age...

17-day Diet Redux

Alright ladies and gents, I've blown the diet and blown up. Klondikes and Oreos were the bane of my summer. Now that September has rolled around, it is time for me to get back in the groove. Really have to get in the right frame of mind. Starting Monday, I'm back on Cycle 1. No truffles this time around. Have eaten enough Klondike bars, dark chocolate--as if that makes it better--to last me through the...
