Staph Infection

I have another staph infection in my toe (3rd one since summer), and am currently on another round of antibiotics.  The antibiotics I have been on before and will most likely get rid of the infection as they have before.  Problem is, the infection keeps coming back, in the same 2 toes, just alternating toes each time the infection comes back.  It never affects any other toes. Anyone have any suggestions as to how to...

Abcess issues

I am 29 years old and for the past several years since I had tubal ligation surgery and uterian ablation, I have been getting terribly painful abcesses in my arm pit area. I have not noticed a certain pattern in when they appear. I have went to my doctor and she stated that they are from a hormone embalance from my tubal ligation and uterian ablation. She did not give me any over the counter...

Scalp Folliculitis

I have been battling with a condition for over a year now.  I develop these red itchy bumps (pimple like) on my scalp.  These bumps do bleed if picked or if the scab is scratched, and have pieces that break off and form flakes.   My GP told me that they were just ingrown hairs and gave me a topical steroid cream to apply.  This cream did not help at all.   Inbetween I have...

Educating Doctors & Mental Health About (CHOKING GAME)!

gThis is something that really NEEDS to be done! My son Grant died on March 12, 2009, from The CHOKING GAME GONE WRONG!! But what has shock me to my very core is the lack of Doctors and Mental Health Proffesionals that are aware of this!! I had gone into the Emergency room for an allergy I found I had. While being treated I was talking with the nurses and found out they were not...

So many isssues

I'm a 59-yr old bilateral amputee, below my knees, due to "idiopathic" neuropathy, from bloodclots following surgery. Shows about amputees, whether from war or disease, get my attention, as do stories about cancer. I've learned a lot about new technology in the medical field, and I know that this show has given me lots of pointers about questions to ask doctors when I have a scheduled visit. I'd really like to give a SHOUT OUT...

We get it

Smokers get it. People want us dead. We can not be a loving, caring person if we smoke. We are the scum of the earth! I do not go to the doctor unless is it serious. I have always paid more for life, health and at one time car insurance because I am a smoker. Strangers judge us when they see us smoking or find out we do. I have had them walk up to a half...

second hand smoke

Hello All, The multi-dwelling second hand smoke ruling described on today's show was most appropriate in order to protect other unit owners from second hand smoke, but I seriously wonder how it will actually be enforced. This issue is not so much about government over reach or the freedom to do what you want like inside "your own four walls". It's about respecting the rights of the majority of non-smokers to breath smoke free in THEIR own dwelling. I believe we should all do...

Botox and Depression

I thought it was really interesting on today's show 11/20/12 about botox as a treatment for depression.  I was googling it and found that it has been and is still being researched.  And although it might be a good thing, the botox itself could cause side effects in and of itself.  Here is just one site that lists side effects ... and even though they are usually short-term side effects in most cases, some people...

PGAD

I was researching the Internet and came across this site with a blog about PGAD. I want everyone to know that my wife had it severely and we have found the cure. Dr. Erwin Goldstein in San Deigo, California is in the process of treating my wife and it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of time. Her symptoms have been cut in half and we expect a full recovery or at the...

what could it be?

Hello all, I am 26 years old. I have had many surgeries. Mostly female issues since 15 years old, which started off as cysts. Then at 18 I started having a lot of pain. Went into surgery at 21 and they found endometriosis. Before going into that said surgery I had gotten a retuine colonoscopy which they found polyps, and my bowels were twisted. They untwisted my bowels and removed the polyps, one of the...

Heimlich Maneuver

(I think I spelled that right!) What happens if you are alone, and choking on peanut butter, ie a peanut butter sandwich?  This has happened to me awhile ago (before the allergies started), and fortunately the first time there was some low gag reflex I got that got it out somehow.  Second time I was lucky to get enough spit in my mouth repeatedly to start to swallow it enough to get air.  But if...

Snow For The First Time This Year -- ATHENA

Well, we are getting snow any time now for the first time of the year!  It is Nor'easter called ATHENA coming  up the coast, starting at the Carolinas sometime last night (Tuesday night).  It hits NJ on the way up (so as I write this they are most likely getting hit with the storm), hitting the same areas that were just affected by SANDY.  I'm really hoping things dont get worse for people, and that...

To the Doctors: Stop claiming cow's milk reduces belly fat--it's FALSE!

To the Doctors: PLEASE LOOK AT THE LATEST RESEARCH BEFORE MAKING HEALTH CLAIMS!  Yesterday on the show, the Doctors were making a smoothie and as they poured in the milk, they said that it reduces belly fat.  The dairy industry has been sued for making these false claims that dairy aids in weight loss, and they can no longer advertise as such, according to the Federal Trade Commission.  Available research does not support these claims...

Good (harmful) smells from Cosmetic products

I've recently watched an investigation on scents and fragrances from cosmetic products can hurt you and increase your cancer risk.  I'm sure the Doctors (all four)  know this.  For example, candles, sprays, perfumes, colones, deoderant, shampoo, detergents, tissues, whip creams, etc. http://www.abenterprisesindia.com/industrial-chemicals.html (all the list of industrial chemicals) (some of them are prohibited, right?)  (Guess what? some of them matches the level of exhaustion from automobiles) http://www.washington.edu/news/2010/11/15/scented-consumer-products-shown-to-emit-many-unlisted-chemicals/  (Report from University of Washington) There was a...

17DD Cycle 1 Day 1 ROUND TWO

As you can see I did the 17DD before and I was pretty damn successful at it.... so successful actually that after I lost 17 pounds I thought that I could just go back to my old ways... UNFORTUNATELY that led to putting 5 pounds back on to my already fluffly frame!  SO.... I'm going back to Cycle 1 Day 1 again.... back to basics and back to what I know works for me.

Milk. It does a body not-so-good. Or maybe so-so.

From Kathy Freston's book, The Lean: According to T. Colin Campbell, professor emeritus of nutritional biochemistry at Cornell University...casein, the main protein in milk, promotes cancer.  Milk protein can fertilize cancer cells! Many of us--80 percent of African Americans, 90 percent of Asian Americans, 60 percent of Latinos, and many Caucasians are, to some degree, lactose intolerant, meaning drinking animal milk or eating products made from animal products can cause us gas, pain, diarrhea, and other...

Forget the Food Pyramid--Here's the Power Plate!

A whole food*, plant-based diet can promote health and longevity, fight cancer, diabetes, and heart disease, is great for the environment, can help with weight loss, and, not surprisingly, is extremely economical (think beans, lentils, whole grains, and in-season veggies...the book Eat Vegan on $4 a Day gives some great recipes, too!).  I recently became vegan, and I have found it to be a lot of fun, and quite liberating!  I have so much energy, the last few pounds of...

High Fiber, Constipation, and IBS

I think I have written about this before but I'll mention it again.  For me, a high fiber diet is a terrible thing to have because of having IBS (irritable bowel syndrome). A high fiber diet will constipate me very badly, regardless of how much water/fluid I have. So IMO I don't think a high fiber diet is always good.  It is opposite from what the gastroenterologist said on the show, him saying that a...

Brushing Teeth and Sugar

Is it true that if you eat a lot of sugar, to NOT brush teeth for about a half hour afterwards?  Reason being that you are just brushing the sugar around?  Is the best thing to rinse out your mouth with water, or brush your teeth (which is brushing the sugar from the candy more over your teeth than it already is)? Ideally you can wait a half hour to brush, but if you can't,...

Do you eat when procrastinating
