After years of debilitating depression, anxiety, bipolar symptoms and much more, I don't suffer any more!
I have suffered from severe and sometimes suicidal depression for over 7 years along with IBS, panic, anxiety, fibromyalgia and I have suffered from Bipolar 1 and chronic fatigue. The miracle is that I no longer have ANY psychiatric symptoms. For years doctors had me on multiple psych meds and yet I still suffered. I saw MD’s, psychiatrists, counselors, ER doctors, pain specialist and many more doctors. I also gained a lot of weight.
I am almost completely well now because I found out that my body was extremely deficient in Magnesium, B6, and many other vitamins and minerals. Taking suppliments did not help me until after seeing an M.D. who practices natural medicine, I found out that my body couldn’t absorb these out of my food or with suppliments because my intestines were irritated from foods I was allergic to.
The doctor immediately started me on an IV vitamin and mineral therapy and I huge improvement within 30 minutes. I had a few of these therapy’s while I changed all of my eating habits. Even though I had done a food elimination diet before, to find out if I had food allergies, the test failed because reactions to foods aren’t always immediately physically noticable because the reaction is internal and shows up through other symptoms.
Now that I have eliminated the foods my body can’t take, my system can absorb my nutrients in my food and I use oral vitamin and mineral suppliments as well as being very careful about what I eat.
Within 2 weeks, I was able to go off of my phychiatric meds and my depression is completely gone and my fibromyalgia is almost gone. My energy level is returning to normal and life is getting better everyday. This is going to take a few more months to build back up my strength and endurance but I have my life back.
What was crazy wasn’t me…it is that for 7 years of seeing multiple doctors and hospitals, I was quickly given medication to treat my symptoms and not a single doctor looked for the underlying problem. Sure they tested for a few vitamin deficiencies and thyroid function but they never tried to figure out the underlying cause of the deficiencies.
Our bodies are made up of cells and those cells are made from vitamins and minerals yet doctors often treat with prescription medications first and when they start using the vitamins and minerals that our bodies require to function properly, it is called “alternative medicine”. This seems pretty backwards to me.
I don’t have to put up with any side effects from my medications because my meds are natural foods, vitamins and minerals. I was so weak when I started this therapy, I had to have a friend drive me to the doctor. She could tell when my IV therapy started kicking in because my personality would change and my perpective on life changed. I would become relaxed, happy and confident within about half an hour. Now my husband can tell if I don’t take my vitamins and minerals because my depression returns as well as low tolerance to stress.
My doctor and I use the book “Natural Healing for Bipolar Disorder – A compendium of nutritional approaches” by Eva Edelman. Don’t let the name of the book detour you, it is not just for people with Bipolar symptoms. It is an amazing book. I had a hard time spending money on it at first but I refer to it every week for all of the symptoms I suffer with. I also refer to my naturopathic medical doctor to guide me with dosages. I am not affiliated in any way with the author, I have just hugely benefited from her book and don’t want others to suffer needlessly for years like I did.
This approach literally saved my life.

I'm glad you found a natural approach that worked for you! I have suffered from tachycardia since I was about 16 (37 now), and no doctor ever told me to eat better, to include more fruits and veggies, etc, to balance my electrolyte levels, I discovered it on my own via the internet in the mid-2000s! Now I rarely have an episode. Here's my blog about it: http://www.thedoctorstv.com/GreenFish/posts/14343-Are-you-getting-enough-potassium
I've only started improving my health in my 30s (cutting out gluten and lactose which were giving me major digestive issues and recurrent rashes, etc), and I recently gave up sugar at the start of this year, plus started to add fruits, veggies, beans, nuts, etc. to my diet. Nutrition really does make a difference...I feel sooo much better, all my pain and other issues have improved dramatically!

Since January I've been incorporating the philosophy of including more alkaline foods and notice the difference: http://www.thedoctorstv.com/GreenFish/posts/14194-More-Energy-Boost-Your-Immunity-Feel-Less-Pain-Live-Longer
Good luck, depression no more!
Please tell how you found your dr. My son who is now 25 has been fighting this nightmare since he was 18 and had to come home from college with a severe ear infection, since then we have been on the drug merry go round. I took my son to a Orthomolecular md. She was supposed to be a natural dr. I thiought at last he would have the testing he needed. Nope She threw a lot of vitamins at him(no testing) and lots , lots of praying!!!! Please heip me -he is so gifted .I don.t won.t to to lose him, but I think, no, I know he is giving up on any help or any life. I love him so much and don't know where to go any more! !Please can you help me?
When I read this , it felt like I had a twin out there writing my life for the past 10+ years. I am so glad you are better. Living in such pain that is constant and so severe is "hell on earth ". I also am turning to natural medicine and meditation. I am doing better and am encouraged. Massage is so helpful but doing it on yourself is only passing it from one area to another.I wish insurance would help with this issue. Most of us are on limited budgets. If you hear of such a program, please let me know. Thank-you for your input. I do know how you feel. It HURTS..Jenny Taylor
