Starting Day 1 Cycle 1 tomorrow… any tips? |
Make sure you have all the food you need!!! Biggest tip. That is the hardest thing for me I am on day 3 and weighed myself this morning already lost 3 lbs. I just am not use to eating so much, so that is the hardest thing right now. Do you have a lot to lose? I am at 165 lbs. need to lose a good 30+ lbs for sure! Never been this heavy…even when I was pregnant! |
Yes having all the food in your fridge is deifinate….I am on day four and am six pounds lighter…I am shocked and ecstatic all at the same time…good luck to you:)) |
@JayJae WOW! that is great! How much do you weigh and how much do you want to lose? I am always curious and always worried that I can’t lose because I am at 165 and I know others losing lots faster weigh more than that so I am always curious on how others are losing. |
@ rivsmom….we are fairly close in size I assume. I started at 162lbs and am down to 156lbs I am 5’5". I am doing everything as the book suggests and am pushing my plate away when I feel I have had enough….I want to loose 10 lbs but if at all possible would like to see 145 lbs again….it’s been years:)) Are you having problems with the diet and how long have you been on it? |
Just started day 3 today!! Exciting you are close to my weight… I am 5’ 3 1/2" and I can not wait to get under 150! Been 2 + years for me! I worked in a factory, lost my job and went back to school and that is when the weight came piling on nonstop! Stress and school at the age of 50+ YIKES! Wish we could form local groups that are doing this diet to meet and keep each other motivated! Hummmm idea …any suggestions??? I am in PA! |

rivsmom, Feel free to create a topic thread for your local area either in your team forum or here in the main 17 Day Diet forum. There have been a couple regional groups formed like that. |

not finding the team forum at all… |

What I meant by Team forum was TEAM DR PHIL or TEAM THE DOCTORS |

Rivsmom and Jaejae, I’m about the same size as you both too. 5’4" and 155 now, 157 to start. I’m hoping to get to 140 which I haven’t been in years, since before kids anyway. Day 4 for me today. I’m feeling a bit more hungry today than the last couple days. Munching on some carrots now. I had yogurt and berries for breakfast and didn’t stay as full as when I have eggs… |
I look at it as first get under 160 lbs. into the150’s then into the 140’s and so on and so on…..instead of a bunch of weight you have to lose… you know what I mean? I’ve had a headache all day today! I miss my chocolate! |
@ rivsmom…I might be late getting down to any of the meets, I’m up in Western Canada so a bit of a drive hahaha. And yah I hear you on the chocolate thing….I eat chocolate just about everyday and do miss it so…today is actually my first day without a headache…I just can’t imagine all the toxins that are finally being released from my body:)) @ nurseymama….I too was somewhat more hungry today and had to think of my target outfit quite often….haha but it got me through. I too have been switching up my breakfast as to try to keep thing interesting….have either of you ladies tried any of the recipes yet? |
Love the taco salad recipe! instead of the fat free cheese I use greek nonfat yogurt as a sour cream replacement! Usually have that for lunch! I love the Dannon Fit & Lite Yogurt for breakfast with 1 cup of blueberries mixed in it! I also like taking the yogurt and mixing in the truvia sweetner with coco. Nice treat! Give me your ideas! |
rivsmom…I did the exact same thing — under 170s (starting from 180s beforehand), then under 16s, etc. I still plateaued but it didn’t seem for too long. Make sure everyone is eating enough to lose weight…if you eat too little for too long, your body might go into starvation mode and lower your metabolism. Melissa. |
@ rivsmom…..haven’t tried too many yet but am definitely fonna try using the greek non-fat yogurt…I’ve never even heard of it. Doing the same with the yogurt but have not tried the coco….is that a cheat? Cause I’m like you….I love my chocolate. Any change today on the scale for you? I am still at six but that’s ok with me seeing as I didn’t expect so much so fast…. @ melissaw72…how long have you been on the diet? what stage are you at and how long have you been plateauing? |

I’m on day 3 (again. I’ve had a couple of false starts) Does anyone else get really grumpy without carbs? My kids and husband are cowering when they see me come in the room. |

Just finished cycle 1 and began cycle 2 today. Total lost in cycle 1: 6 lbs. The day before, I registered a 7 lb. loss. Arrgh! So, the weight fluctuates and plateaus all the time. Wish I lost more, but can’t complain. I am 5’6", started at 152, and now weigh 146. Haven’t been in the 140’s for years!!! I want to reach my goal of 132-135. I would feel comfortable in this range. |

rivsmom, I’ve had headaches here and there too although not as bad yesterday… tried the eggplant parm last night and it was pretty good. Made me very burpy all nighrt (sorry TMI) and felt bloated. All these veggies do that to me sometimes! i made a separate pan with chicken breast for DH (not on 17dd) basically following the same recipe and he said it was good. I guess that would be “legal” for cycle one too. I felt like the cook times were a little long. so, for some reason, up a pound today?? that puts me down only one pound and i’m on day 5! disappointing. I did have a small glass of red wine last night but i wouldn’t think that would cause me to gain. I also have my period this week so I’m just hoping it’s water weight and in the next few days I’ll see more loss. I’m really sticking to the diet other than that wine. I know it’s not allowed, but I was soooo missing it. Had scrambled eggs this morning with sauteed onion and spinach and a nice juicy orange which was delicious! Need to make another trip to the store already though… the meal planning is pretty intensive. |

Jayjae…..I didn’t really start on any particular day….the book was on its way, then my mom had it for a couple weeks. So I was going from the messageboards and all and used the ideas until I got the book in the mail. So the diet started for me in January after the show aired, but not on C1 — used ideas from C1 and implemented them with my diet as i saw in the Boards. As time went on I just worked the cycles into what I could because I’d already started. So in a way I didn’t follow anything to a T, but did use most of the tips and ideas to help me lose weight and it worked. I am now maintaining. If I lose more though, I wont complain. Melissa. |
nurseymama….. for me personally my weight goes up 2,3,4 pounds while I am on PMS and through my period. So I dont even bother to weigh or anything because I know it will just frustrate me. Melissa. |
msashawnee….without the carbs I kept getting really lightheadded. Melissa. |

@JayJae and others…..just not sure about the coco! How can we find out? Not stepping on the scale until Monday…scared! Doing ok..Had to go to the grocery store for food again… oh well. I did a Fish Stir Fry using olive oil, garlic, lite soy sauce, a few other spices but used Salmon in it and asparagus my gosh it was great! LOVE SALMON! Got stuff to make the taco salad for lunches. It is easy to make the 1 lb. turkey burger and cook it with the taco seeasong mix as in the recipe and use it for a couple days of lunches…since it makes I think 4 servings..hopefully I continue to eat this way over the weekend and the scale shows a drop on Monday! Will keep you posted! Let’s do it girls! |

We love the taco salad too but the seasoning packets have a lot of salt in them. Here is a recipe for the seasoning mix. My husband and I like it spicy so I put more of the cayenne & chili powder. You can adjust it to your taste. I only use a half a teaspoon of the salt but you could leave it out altogether. 2 t. dried onion 1 t salt 1/2 t cornstarch 1/2 t garlic powder Add to browned ground meat with 1/2 cup water and simmer until water is absorbed. |

Hi all. I am on Day 5 of Cycle 1. I feel good & have been keeping up with a minimum of 20 min cardio each day this week & have found that I’m down a solid 4 lbs. I am certainly happy for that. Skeptical about giving up having any drinks over the wknd – especially at social events – even if it is “only” for a couple of weeks. Im glad to have found this forum, I know it’ll provide me with the support I need & some inspiration! |
