How do I know what to do? I would like to start today/tomorrow, but I don’t have the book and am unsure what to eat and not eat. And when? Any advice?

I would like to start the program and at this time do not have the book. How do I find out what to eat and not to eat. And when during the day? Do I have to get the book before I start?

Don’t you love it when OTHERS notice? I just got my book and I’m a reading rainbow right now.

stitchingmom, Wow that would be a lot to list for you, but for starters, chicken and fish are the only proteins other than egg whites that you should stick to. 2 fruits per day, mostly berries, oranges, grapefruit, and apples but before 2 p.m. 2 probiotics per day i.e. non-fat sugar free yogurt, kefir etc. lots of vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, onions, mushrooms with olive oil or flaxseed oil and vinegar. 8 glasses of water per day. green tea with every meal and hot water with lemon first thing in the morning. Other than writing the book out for you, this is basically what you would start with. Hope this helps you.

It’s always a good idea to have your own because you know the program inside/out. I just started reading mine today and will start on Monday.
This book’s pretty expensive, however, if you find someone willing to share, it will be a miracle. There’s a sale on the website for $20, but they add another $20 on for rush shipping. If you don’t rush it, you won’t get it for about 2 weeks.
If money’s tight, try your local library or two. Good luck.

Thank you Otherrien, I appreciate you taking the time to give me a synopsis. I will try to pick up the book this weekend.

Just wait for the book; you really need to understand the reasoning behind all the methodology, and the specific do’s & don’ts … in the meantime (my book only took a few days), you can cut out sugar & white starches from your diet & begin getting in some regular exercise & setting goals for yourself. I watched his video clips & read as much that was available beforehand. I know the limited amount out there & is frustrating; he leaves much to be answered, but I think that’s on purpose.

Etherial and Dunkashea thank you both. I had checked out my local libraries and one has it on order. I guess I will order it from the website as that is the least expensive.
Thanks for your advice.

stitchingmom, I was under the impression you had ordered the book but had not received it yet. I agree with everyone else, you really need to get it because there is so much more information in the book that you need to read to do this properly. Right now the books are on sale online. If I were you I would order it today. It doesn’t take that long to get it. Good luck

Hi all, cycle 1 day 13 for me today and one more pound down, I’m down from 158 to 151.6, but the coolest thing this week I’ve found is my craving for sugar has pretty much gone away and I’m finding the diet much more second nature, not having to think/plan so hard. My hubby loves eating this way anyway (probably why he’s so thin!) and that’s been a huge help.

OMG! Dang, I can hardly wait until Monday! I’m going grocery shopping tomorrow. That’s a great weight to see in such a short time.
Just fabulous!

Day 13 of Cycle 1 for me. I am down 6 lbs. and wondering since I haven’t been perfect on this cycle (cheating) I should just stay on cycle 1 longer? Not sure if I would like Cycle 2 and ONLY losing 2 lbs.! I have noticed like nurseymama I to am into a routine knowing what I need to eat and when. Your thoughts fellow 17 Day Dieters?
|
|
|
|
|
rivsmom…. I dont think you should stay on C1 longer than recommended (before C2) … in C1 you are “tricking” your body so weight will come off, but if you go longer on that cycle it might cause your body into starvation mode; then your metabolism will slow down and calories will be stored as fat.

rivsmom….I agree with Melissa you really need to go on to Cycle 2 and Cycle 3 after before going back to Cycle 1. Dr. Mike obviously tested all this and this is what he recommends, so if you truly want to do the 17 Day Diet, then you need to stick to the plan. The weight loss is slower on 2 and 3 but that’s okay, when you look at the total amount lost for such a short period of time, you can see that it is working. If you cheated on 1 then talk yourself into not cheating on 2, keep telling yourself it is only for 17 days. Good luck and keep persevering.

Hi guys, I hate to keep complaining, but I am stumped at why I dropped 4-5 lbs the first week, and now it’s come to a dead stop this second week! I have kept up everything the same (exerising, green tea, water, no alcohol…) I feel good, but that just isn’t enough to keep a smile on my face. If I’m not losing on C1, I can forget about losing even half this amount on C2.
Any similar experiences?

Dunkashea, it hasn’t “stopped working”. Dr. Moreno addresses this in one of the chapters and explains that we shouldn’t panic if the scale slows or seems like you’ve stopped losing, but internal work is going on like cleansing your organs and blood pressure, cholesteral, etc.
So, it’s working inside then out. No worries.

I am watching the live broadcast with Dr. Moreno now.. and he states that if you cheat a day or two go back onto cycle 1 for a day or two then continue onto cycle 2 and keep moving forward. I am heading on a beach vacation right at the end of cycle one. I am going to try to make good choices but it is only a 5-6 day off. So I am planning to go back on Cycle 1 just for a week when I come back and head right into Cycle 2. Just some thoughts. It is important not to get discouraged. I needed to lose a total of 23 pounds from the start. I have lost 5 in my first 9 days and am hoping for 10 by the 17th. But, to do this in the live cast you have to bump up moving or cardio if you want the results. He says that 30 mins five days a week is a minumum so if you are not seeing the results do 45. I am thinking in cycle 2 I will be bumping this up too. The TV show contestants on the live broadcast say they do two workouts a day one in the morning and another at night. Just some thoughts… Stay motivated I love this healthy way of eating and will adopt it into a healthy long life style. 1st that has ever worked for me once I hit 50…

Cycle 1, Day 2, Lost 2 lbs. Only 53 to go!
It took me 8 years to put it on, so I’m trying to be patient. Good to see results right away so I can stay motivated during the tough part for me, which is the first few weeks. I do not have the book yet but did not want to wait to begin. The info on the posts is helping but I can’t wait to get my book (amazon is sending them in mid-March). I’ll be finished with cycle 1 by then, though!
Question:
Is tofu okay in cycle one?

Hi, if im a student in highschool and can’t have lunch until 3:00PM, is that ok or will it mess up my weight loss goal? I will eat breakfast at 7 45 AM and will eat my probiotics and will eat my allowed servings of fruit before 2PM. I will then plan on eating dinner around 7. Is this OK? Thanks! :)

pinkbeachgirl, as with any diet plan, you have to tailor this to work for your lifestyle. If eating lunch at 3 is what you do in life, it will be what you will have to do. I would stick some carrot sticks in a baggie each day to munch on. I often carry a baggie of the red grapes with me if I know I can’t eat at my usual time. I try to prevent myself from getting too hungry because then I’d make bad choices when it is time to eat; I’d eat anything just because I’m so hungry! This is such a great plan that I hope you can make it work for you.

Pinkbeachgirl,
I guess it is doable, as long as you space out your meals, so that there is not a long gap between meals. A 3:00 lunch is pretty late. If you can possibly eat earlier, that would be better. If not, make sure you eat all allowable foods and snacks between bkfst. and lunch. Maybe it would be okay for you to munch on raw carrots, broccoli, celery, etc..every 3 hours.
Are you able to drink the green tea and all the required water? I think the water is critical.
Perhaps contacting Dr. Mike with your questions would be a good idea.

Pinkbeachgirl: Hi, that’s a pretty late lunch, wouldn’t you say? I could see eating at 1:00p the latest, but 3:00p would interfere with your dinner. Why would a high school have such a late period?
LLindaN: Yes, tofu is allowed as long as it is not fried.

Quedeedee – How do you know what to do if you don’t have the book? I was told that I needed the book to be able to follow the plan correctly.
|
|
|
|
|
You def need the background, info, specific do’s & don’ts…it’s all in the book!
I don’t know why it’s so back logged now, I bought mine 2 1/2 weeks ago & it got to me within a few days, shipped regular ground…
Quedeedee, did you peek at a friends? I’m curious what you are following? In any case, just cutting out starches & sugar can make an immediate difference in your bady & how you feel. Wiening off of these is also good prep to prevent shocking your system if you’re one that is addicted or prone to those cravings. If you can’t wait to get startede, I’d say it’s worth the few extra bucks in expediting the shipping then. GOod luck!

Day 3, Lost 2more lbs! 4 lbs total, 51 to go.
Skipped exercise yesterday-car broke down so had to deal with that. So back on the elliptical today!
Tried Kefir for the first time and really liked the yogurty taste. Not craving sweets so much, but missing my fruit after 2pm…sometimes I miss my “deadline” so I’m trying to have my fruit at breakfast and midmorning snack. If I wait, “stuff” happens and I don’t fit it in.
Back to work today with my sack full of provisions and a timer so I don’t get too busy. Fingers crossed!
