Still nothing lil teeny climb today. Pretty upset weighed myself before bed and when getting up weighed a lb more. That’s not even possible. I’m pretty much done. I think there is a diet for everyone and this one appears not to be the one for me… 231.3 today and day 16 loss of 4.7 which happened by day 6 stalled ever since, something is not right. Apparently my body defies nature.

I’m  afraid that I am switching to WW next week. I have had great sucess on this diet before, but just seem to be struggling with it this time, so for a change will go for WW.

Good luck!

JuneE, this is a late reply…but yes I did do a lot of cheating with the potatoes!  I know there’s no excuse but one time was because of PMSTHEN I read the PMS exception diet chapter and he says you CAN have small serving of sweet potatoes when craving carbs before your period…so now that’s what I’m doing…there’s no excuse for the potatoes I had on my first weekend in Cycle 1…it’s hard when my husband is enjoying anything and everything and I have to eat 3/4ths plate of veggies…but regardless, I still lost weight….maaaybe I would have lost an extra pound…but what’s done is done!!!

Hey Teleri and CharlotteUK, I know what you mean about losing lots of weight in the beginning and then tapering off.  Just completed cycle1 and lost 2 pounds in 8 days, then only 1 pound by the end of the cycle.  I think the body can go into starvation mode with too few calories, some experts say to never go below 1200.  I did go below 1200 on like, 2 days, but mostly was between 1200-1400.  Teleri, don’t get too obsessed with the scale.  I did a few years ago, and it stressed me out more than anything, which as you know, stress will make your body keep the weight on!  It’s a vicious cycle!!!  Try weighing yourself just in the mornings every week or every few days.  Are you using a lot of salt?  That may explain the weight gain in the morning.  Dr. Mike suggests Morton Lite Salt in the Q & A section of the book.  Also, raw chicken packages have tons of hidden sodium due to factory processing.  Hope this helps!

Thanks, hopefully a change of routine will help. Don’t get me wrong, I have LOVED this diet before, and found it easy, especially on the first cycle. But this time I have struggled, and obviously it just doesn’t work if you veer off the allowed foods.

Charlotte, I did not start cycle 1 again like I said I was going to.  It really is hard getting back on the diet once you go off it for awhile.  I didnt gain anything back though, my weight may go up and down a few pounds.  I workout 5 days a week and I dont think that cycle 1 is good for me anymore, not enough carbs for me with the calories I burn.

I do weigh myself daily and will for the rest of my life, if i go up 2 pounds i make sure to take those off right away.  This diet has tauight me how to eat healthy, I dont always but for the most part I try to stick cycle2 and cycle 3.

Thanks all for your reports. I have been recovering from a hand surgery and have gained about 10 pounds over the past couple of month. Virtually no physical activity. I walk some days when it’s not too hot and my coasted hand isn’t too swollen. So, I reading these posts and getting mentally prepared to start cycle 1 again. I was very successful in jan 2011 and lost 30 pounds ending at 117. Now at 127, hoping I get the same great results. On the bright side, I had lost the 30 pounds and kept it off for over a year. I continue to read the posts and find them motivating and helpful. Thanks to all of you.

What you say about the exercise june is the same for me, I do a lot of exercise, and have often found myself struggling during my classes or sessions – light headed and lacking energy. I think the way WW is now is more like the 17DD principles, so I am going to give that a try. I can combine the two to my requirements.

Hi I am on day 5 of cycle 1. I chose a rough weekend to start as it is Memorial weekend. I have done awesome on it though. It was hard on my 2nd day because we had a bonfire and I always love to have at least one smore. I did not eat it though since dinner was so delish. On day 3 we celebrated Mother’s Day a little late for my mother in law and we normally buy nice steaks and have baked potatoes and grill out. We opted for grilled chicken and asparagus. I made homemade frozen yogurt (followed the recipe in the cookbook) and everyone loved it. We considered stopping the diet and starting over after the holiday weekend so while i was trying to make my decision on if i wanted to do that or not I decided to weigh in and use that as my deciding factor. I had lost 7.5 lbs in 2 days. I told my hubby that there was no way I was getting off of this diet right now with results like that. I haven’t weighed in again yet but will be in the next day or two. My goal is 50 lbs. I am hoping to get there sooner than later. If I can get to my goal that will be the smallest my hubby has ever seen me. So excited to get this going and to see more loss.

vanover440, wow, you DID pick a rough weekend to start.  I was on Day 17 of Cycle 2 on Sat, then I just took a few days “off,” now today on Weds, I’m ready to start Cycle 3!  Good luck…and good luck to everyone else, whatever Cycle you’re in!

Wow…you are all doing great!! I’m on day 2 (C1) and had a good day yesterday.  Getting used to drinking more water and green tea…the food part doesn’t seem too hard, especially since you are allowed some friut.  I’ve tried South Beach and there is not friut allowed in the first phase.  With exercise I feel like I really do need those carbs from the fruit.

LesVel, keep up the good work.  I suggest not cheating at all the first 17 days (or ever if you can manage).  Its easier to stay on the diet the longer you go without cheating!!

Thanks JuneE!  I have had a few cheats over the past days (I’m starting day 4 now) but shopped yesterday so I have everything I need to eat in the house now…I agree, cheating will just make it harder.  I am lucky and I do like plain yogurt and just tried almond milk for the first time and like that too, so I’m back on track 100% (instead of 80-90%)…because I do want to be 100% successful ;-)

Starting the 17 day diet tomorrow! I’m so excited and I’m really hoping that I can drop the pounds quick. I have a wedding in 9 months so I’m super excited to drop a couple dress sizes.

If anyone is looking for a buddy let me know. I’m all about helping people stay motivated and could use the motivation to stick to the diet myself.

Hello! I’m new to this board. I am on day 2 of cycle 1. I did Atkins since July of lost year and was ble to drop 26lbs (I experienced a gain and loss of 10lbs through out the weeks that I fell off, so it would be more if I counted the two or three times I went up and down!). I’m tired of the same old same old with Atkins…no matter how varied my recipes were, I just couldn’t stay cheat-free for more than two weeks! Then I came across this diet… I was hooked when I read about the fruit and yogurt!

This diet seems like it will be easy for me to adapt to as I have been eating low-carb for so long now. I weighed in today and lost 2lbs already…. water weight most likely from last week’s binge. I don’t see myself losing more than 10lbs in the first cycle because I’ve been dieting for so long but I’m certainly looking forward to any loss I can achieve in this new way of eating.

My biggest goal is to stay cheat-free for AT LEAST the first cycle. I know from experience that once I cheat on my first attempt at something, it changes something in me… it loses its importance. I don’t know I’m weird. So bring on the next 15.5 days….

Keep up the good work June.  I’m trying to lose my last 5 pounds.  I’m in Cycle 3 now and I love it.  I love that now there are so many food choices, I don’t feel the need to cheat.  Once I’m done with Cycle 3, I’m going to repeat it.  He says you can choose Cycle 1, 2, or 3 until you reach your goal weight.  Well, I’m choosing the cycle with the most food choices!  BUT, I have to up my exercise…I’m struggling just a bit with that.

Julsie, good luck, this is much better than the Atkins diet, which never attracted me in the least.  I need my carbs!  Now I just try to stick to all the good carbs in the 17DD.  Your idea of trying not to cheat is a good one…my trick is to just eat more veggies as snacks throughout the day when I’m hungry…a bowl of cherry/plum tomatoes for example.  The veggies on the list have such low calories anyways, it’s not really cheating…

Slimsoon – We’re here, envious of the reward you are getting from your hard work. I’m recovering from surgery right now but still have about 14 pounds to shed when I can get back to regular exercise. I still eat most meals according to the plan and am maintaining my weight at this time. Sorry to say I am a bit soft without the exercise. So glad you are posting daily, you are a huge encouragement to many of us and a reminder that this diet works. So proud of yourprogress. What is your ultimate goal weight? I lost 30 pounds beginning January of 2011 to may 2011. I kept most  of it off before 2 weeks at an all inclusive vacation and then surgery 3 months ago. My goal weight is 115. I’m currently at 129. I walk on cool evenings and climb stairs but i’m not cleared. For other exercise for about another month. I’ll post here with you when I start back next month. Hang in there, you’re doing fantastic.

Hey Cluehunter…..thanks so much!!!  I am unsure of what weight I hope to see on the scale at the end of this journey.  I just want to look and feel good in my clothes.  155 was my intial goal to hit for june 20 but I adjusted it to the 150’s because it was not very realistic.  I am actually going for a consult this week for a tummy tuck to get rid of all my extra loose sagging skin.  So for now my next goal is to fit comfortably in my size 29 silver jeans.  I would love to see 135 on the scale but I am in really good shape around 149-150.  But my body likes to creep back up to 157 all the time.  Its like its my magic number.  I am 5 ‘6 and a half lol and have a very physically demanding job so I can’t be to small.  Hope you are healing well from your recent surgery and congrats on the shedded 30.  Thats awesome.  I had a baby two and a half months ago and have lost 46 lbs since.  I had to lose 70 after my first pregnancy.  I hit 218 lol.  anyways I’ll be here when you start back up.
