azdreamer, do you have a bicycle? I think thats less stress on the knees, you could try that. Good luck on your 9lb goal but remember, 5 lbs in 17 days is really good too!!

I am almost back to cycle 1 again and I cant wait, i need to get my weight loss moving again, been stalled for a few weeks because of a vacation and a wedding

June

Thanks for the bike suggestion.  Sorry to say,  I have no access to a bike in the summer.  We live “out in the countryside” and the only town nearby is very small.  Also, I need to use a “recumbent bike” due to a groin tendon issue and hip problems.  Always something.  When we go south to AZ for the winter we are closer to a fitness center and I will try that idea out.

I hear what you are saying about getting back on cycle 1.  I am on it for my round 2 now and like the idea that my weight will be going down again (.5 lb this am).  Now I have the same old problem of fitting in enough calories without the carbs…..but will deal with it the best I can.  Good luck to you in your next cycle 1 (is that round 3?) You are so committed and are doing so well on this 17dd.  I really admire your resolve!!!  Diane

azdreamer, it will be round 4 for me…

advice to anyone that is going on vacation, dont cheat, or if you do only cheat a little.. i was on vacation at a hotel and had a wedding reception the following weekend, I gained and it set me back a lot.  The month of august for the most part my weight hasnt moved.  Its just not worth it, you might have to learn on your own but just try and take my advice.

good news is i am down 36lbs yay

I lost a total of 13lbs for the 1st cycle, with 4lbs coming from doing a half marathon last Sunday. Without that half marathon, my weight just stopped going down. I’m now on my Cycle 2 Day 2 and no new progress yet, I’m pondering whether lowering down my calorie intake will help. A bit frustrating not to see the scale go down but I’m determined to keep trying and experimenting.

June, Azdreamer, I really admire your determination to keep pushing hard, keep it going :)

jsandiko….13 lbs in cycle 1 is wonderful!!  I only lost a total of 15 lbs at end of cycle 3, round 1.  Likely, your marathon helped tip you off the plateau….an awesome feeling, isn’t it?

Please be patient in cycles 2 & 3 because you will have lots of those plateau’s……although, hopefully, you will lose more than I did in those two phases!!  Routing for you!  (Your progress and the fact you are doing the diet along with the rest of us….helps me keep on going, too…..so thanks for sharing and please keep on posting……Diane)

June…….

Thanks for the continued updates on your progress (36 lbs….wow!) and the tips and the encouragement.  All the support from you (and others) on this site keeps me going!   I have to agree that we need to limit our cheats….I just don’t cheat if I am at home, period.  When out of town sometimes I have to pick the best available option but am careful about it.

When I was on my mini vacation last week, we were in remote area…..sometimes no really great choices were available so, yes, I cheated some.  Also, I did “treat” myself a couple times but tried to limit that to what I felt I would (and did) burn off with all my hiking/activity.

Today I hit a new milestone of 17 lbs lost!!!  Down 1.5 from yesterday.  That is two days in a row with the scale moving downward!!   I am soooo thrilled.  Even if it is due partly to some “water weight loss” or whatever…..it is the lowest number I have seen on my scale in a very, very long time.

As I am sitting at my computer (taking a break from cleaning my house for our first actual home showing tomorrow)…..I am eating an apple for my morning break/snack.  I did more stairs than usual yesterday and more cleaning than usual and worked up a big sweat working outside…..so maybe those both pushed me off my plateau this morning Day 5, Clycle 1, Round 2? Regardless, the feeling was awesome.  Made every choice I made NOT to cheat and stick with the 17dd soooo worth it!!!   Diane

JuneE, I agree that vacations can be a disaster if you go overboard.  But you’ve done great to lose 36 lbs. I’m still plugging along and have now lost 33 lbs.  People are starting to ask me about it and I’m always glad to share info about the 17dd.  I’ve still got quite a lot of weight to lose, but as long as the scale in going down, I’m happy.

sharon, you are right behind me, great job.  Its great all the compliments im getting now.  I normally would shy away when someone would say something but I accept any i get and agree I look great.  I think the positive attitude helps me stick with it

azdreamer.. thank you!  Being on here helping others and getting tips from others also keeps me motiviated.  This is the first diet I have ever been on that I know I will succeed and get to where I need/want to be!!

I am shooting for Thanksgiving to hit my goal weight.. wish me luck.

Graet job on the 1.5 lb drop, its always nice to see a number like that on the scale, even if it was water (the Dr said we need to lose that excess water weight too)

June

You will make your goal by Thanksgiving…..no doubt in my mind because you are doing so well!  I look forward to seeing your posts with updates on your progress.  Love this 17dd!!

PS: My weight was the same lower number this morning as yesterday…..so must not be just water loss…yippee!!

justdianeagain, glad you are so excited about this diet, it truly works as long as you stick with it.  It really helps you have a lot of people doing it together.  I suggest you go on walks together too

Please keep us posted on how things are going!! Good luck to you all, you can do it!

justdianeagain, it;s so great that you’re doing this with your family :) It will be more exciting and its nice to do more activities with the family :)

The other day, I gained 2 lbs, I was a bit sad about it, but I thought to myself, my dress still feels loose, I feel better so it’s probably muscles that I gained from eating good protein and doing some exercises and weights. I droppped those 2 lbs again today and I’m happy that I sticked with this diet. My skin looks better also, so I don’t need to spend money buying expensive cosmetics that never worked. I can now wear some of the pants that doesn’t fit for a long long time already. I’m definitely continuing this and I’m never going back to my old lifestyle :)

Keep posting your progress :) It’s always exciting to hear from fellow 17DD dieters :)

jsandiko,

my guess is its probably water weight depending how fast you gained those 2 pounds.. From what Ive read the most you can probably gain is 1 lb a week and thats with hard training.  Not trying to bring you down, just trying to get the right info out there.

I’m so thrilled! Today ended c1d7 and my sister and I went to weigh in….I lost 18 and she lost 12!!! My step daughter is on day 8 and lost 8!!!  I was so happy I can’t even explain. I stuck to it like glue…not a cheat at all. Well, I was adding crystal light to my water but someone said that’s negative water so I quit that. The only cheat my sister did this week was 12 mini marshmallows. Yes, she counted them out…haha. I figured my loss would be higher than most I’ve seen because of my size but that was even better than I hoped for!!!! :)

JuneE…thanks! I can’t quite get out and walk yet. Wish I had a treadmill because I might be able to with the bars handrail things to hold but won’t be long! I use exercise bands and small weights for now.

I was going to tell you…I go up to the er here at our local hospital because I don’t have a scale that goes high enough and my doctors office can’t weigh me either. My sister and I were telling everyone about the 17 dd there….haha. the nurses were calculating what % we lost and everything. It was so fun!!! We just added a whole er department to our support team…haha

Icon_missing_medium JuneE 570 posts

justdianeagain, 18lbs is fantastic, talk about motivation, that would keep anyone motivated. Best diet ever!!! You can do it.  As for the exercising, anything helps, those weights will help build muscle.  Do you happen to have any stairs you can walk up and down a bit?

If your sister doesnt read these boards tell her no more cheating, its too early in the game for marshmellows.

I have one more piece of advice for you.  Unless you have a really big event, dont go out to eat or allow yourself 1 cheat meal, you may take advantage of it and regret it.  I did earlier this month when i was on vacation and had a wedding, took me 2 weeks to get back to where i was before I cheated

Keep those pounds dropping, you can do it!!!!!

Icon_missing_medium JuneE 570 posts

weighed myself today.. after 3 days of being on cycle 1 again I am down 2.8 lbs and it feels great.. I am hoping by sunday I will have hit 40lb weight loss overall

Icon_missing_medium justdianeagain 9 posts

JuneE…Thanks for the tip! I’m not very mobile YET so no worries about going out to eat. The only time I’m going out at this point is to weigh…haha. Which helps me a ton also actually cause someone does my shopping for me so there are no cheats picked up at the store! I already cleaned out my cupboards so nothing in mine to cheat with! I can’t do stairs or anything YET to exercise. I’m going to try the gym again here soon though. Last year I did and started with walking 2 minutes at a time. The treadmills have these sturdy rails on them that let me use my arms to support some of my weight which helped alot!

Anyhow….way to go on your loss!! Great job!!!!

I hurt my knee while walking in the park last week and my doc told me to stay off of it as much as possible.  So no exercise and he put me on Prednisone (which I hate).  So I’m really bummed out but trying to be really good.  I’ve lost 35 lbs now.  I entered my height and weight in one of the charts and the BMI no longer shows that I’m in the obese category.  I know I still have a lot to lose but I felt like that was a big step.

sharon51, the BMI telling you that you are no longer obese is a big step and isn’t it the most awesome feeling. Way to go girl !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
