I’m not a big fan of yogurt (in fact I just can’t eat most brands/types without gagging) – but after my husband bought blueberry kefir I tried this out, and it was really good!
1 to 1 1/2 Cups Low Fat Blueberry Kefir
1 cup frozen blueberries
Truvia Sweetner (1 to 2 packets depending on your taste buds)
Cool Whip Free
**Can add ice cubes for more of an Icee texture
Put low fat Blueberry Kefir, frozen blueberries & truvia in blender & blend well (if you want an Icee, add the ice in too). Just pour in your cup and add a dollup of Cool Whip Free. I’ve also added a little bit of Cool Whip Free to the items in the blender and blended it through – both ways are really delicious, and a great way to get 1 to 1 1/2 yogurt and 1 fruit allowance all within 1 recipe.

Can we have this for Cycle 1? My husband would be in heaven if I could find a “shake” for his cravings!! I wonder if I could use Coco w/ plain Kefir?

Ahhh…that would be a yes!!! It is for cycle 1 and all thereafter., although the Cool whip has sugar as 2nd ingredient so I would stay away from it in cycle 1. Also, try berry flavored yogurt with frozen blackberries or Strawberries or whatever? A little thicker and more like a “frozen yogurt”! And, oh its a yes on the cocoa, as long as is not with sugar…I saw another recipe that was cofe frozen in ice cubes and cocoa with trivia—blended and whalla…I have not tried it yet but it sure sounds gooood——>Enjoy!!

The fat free Cool whip has 1g of sugar per serving and the sugar free Cool whip has 1g of fat per serving. I think that since it’s low in fat and sugar that it’s ok to eat during cycle 1

I just use the blueberry or pomegranite FF kefir and add the frozen blueberries along with a little truvia (not even a whole packet) and blend it up. It’s great on it’s own and really doesn’t need the cool whip.

I’ve never heard of Keifir, where in the supermarket can I find it?

fierrkk3, I found Keifer at Earth Fare in the yogurt section. Mine came in a milk carton-type container.
Does anyone know if we can have the sweetened Keifer if it’s low fat? The plain is just too bitter for my taste.

I have found the Kefir at Harris Teeter with the dairy products.

I was told by a nutritionist years ago that you should always add at least 1 cup raw spinach (I use the baby spinach) to a fruit smoothie. The spinach neutralizes all the sour sweet so it tastes balanced. I turns the shake a funky color, but my daughter drinks it by the gallon.

I’m going to try that, Love! Thanks for the suggestion!

The Blueberry Yogurt Smoothie sounds good, I must try it.

Kefir is found at Walmarts next to the yogurt

I’ve had blueberry, blueberry pomegranite, strawberry and strawberry pomegranite…all were delicious! Some need Truvia, some don’t. I usually have these for breakfast or a daytime snack. After trying the Kale chips (yuck) I’m scared to try the spinach in there. However, I did stand at Kroger the other day with a bag of it in my hand for quite a while!! =)

Hi that sounds wonderful…Im from Manitoba Canada and Ive searched for the Kefir and I dont believe we have it here…is there anything else I can use?

It really all depends on what store I’m in, as to where I find the Kefir. Some its with the yogurt, others its in the organic or vegetarian sections.

My husband got a starter for kefir on line and now he makes it for me every few days. I just add sugar free jello to it to give it different fruit flavors. Stawberry is my favorite. It does have a buttermilk like taste when it is plain. We have kefir in all of our stores here. Meijers, Walmart and Krogers. Good luck.
