My friend swears that kale chips taste better than potato chips as a healthy snack. (Use starting with Phase One, Accelerate) I will try this recipe tomorrow.
KALE CHIPS
4 handfuls of kale (curly or flat leaf)
Rinse and dry in spinner or dry well with towel. Remove stems and tear into bite-sized pieces.
Mix 1 TBS. olive oil with your choice of 1/2 to 1 TBS red wine vinegar OR 1 tsp. apple cider vinegar OR 2 tsp.lemon juice and chopped, fresh herbs. Drizzle mixture lightly over kale in large bowl and toss to coat.
Spread kale onto parchment-lined baking sheet (especially with a teflon coated pan)or use olive oil or non fat spray to prevent sticking.
Bake in preheated 350 deg.F. oven for 20-30 min. until kale is crispy but not brown. Check and turn every 10 min. and remove from oven when paper-like and crackly. Sprinkle lightly with sea salt or kosher salt after baking.

I used apple cider vinegar so I’m not sure if thats the reason but…..ICK! Also really watch while you are cooking as they cook very quickly. I added salt and parmesean at the end so I think that saved it a little.
People who love it…Where did I go wrong?

Amy – I haven’t tried this recipe yet but how fresh was the Kale? The longer it sits in the fridge the more bitter it gets, I read you should use it within 3 days of buying or sooner. Hope that helps :)

Im sorry but these were the worst things I have eaten in this lifetime….I really like Kale although it smelled good while cooking it was completely terrible..I hated that I actually wasted food…YUCK !

We’ve been making them for years, the kids can’t get enough of them. They need to be very dry before baking.
i spray them with a little Pam, spinkle kosher salt and bake for 15 mins at 450, the crunchier the better.

We tried them tonight….no they aren’t potato chips BUT they were crunchy & salty! Thinking of all the flavors we can use to spice them up! Has anyone made a large batch and stored them?

My oven must run hotter because at 350* after the first 10 minutes they were starting to turn brownish…turned oven down to 325* for next 10 min. and they were definitely over done. (Blackish) I ate them anyway ! :) Will try them again at a lower temp. or turn quicker. Thanks for the recipe. Chips have always been a weakness!

I just made these! They taste pretty good and satify that “snacking chip” craving. I had olive oil spay so I used a little spritz. They came out pretty good and I’m glad I tried the recipe! I wouldn’t say they are the BEST thing I ever ate, lol, but they defintieyl curb the cravings! If you like chips and need something C1 approved, definitely try these!

I am making these right now and was wondering if the people who loved them would tell us what they added to the olive oil to make them “amazing”; I just used the apple cider vinegar and will sprinkle them with sea salt when they’re done…..I sure hope they are good.

I just tried them and they ARE good! Yay I was getting a bit bored with all the chicken and salad etc… of C1 but 7 days in and down 4.4lbs.

I have tried these with several different seasonings and all are good in my book. Here they are: Lawrey’s seasoning salt, onion powder and garlic powder. (All together and separately) Jalapeno sea salt; sea salt…..pretty much whatever you feel like at the time. Oh…and I have only used the red wine vinegar, but I’m sure the apple cider vinegar is equally good! Enjoy in whatever seasonings you like!

Thanks B…I thought they needed some garlic and also if anyone makes these keep the pieces on the large size as they shrink up a lot. Mine had a slightly burnt taste so I think I will lower the temp a bit and try again for sure!
