I just wanted to say thank you to Joey’s mom and dad for coming on the show and telling their story. You may have saved lives out there! Who knows, you may have saved mine! I have some pain meds in the cupboard that were prescribed for a legitimate problem, but really I probably needed 5 pills, not 30. I am guilty of recently having a drink and taking a pain pill just because it made me feel good – for only the past few days. I’m sure I would’ve continued to do so had I not seen this show. I also have xanax and ambien in my cupboard, and who knows, had I taken those as well, I might have been another tragic story that could’ve been prevented. As a mom, a wife, a daughter and sister, I thank you for the courage to tell your story; you may have saved my life. I put all the pills I have and don’t need into a container with coffee grounds to dissolve them. I read you shouldn’t flush them because it contaminates the water (which makes sense) and don’t throw away, you never know who could accidently eat them! So again, thank you for your courage and message.

Great to see my friend April Rovero on the show! Everyone needs to focus on getting this topic discussed. It is not just someone else’s problem! Dying from prescription drug overdose just recently took over car accidents as leading cause of death. Of course, moms like April (and me) have a passion for educating people to save the huge grief that this brings to a family whether death occurs or ongoing addiction and abuse. April has been on my show , a couple times and one thing that comes up in the conversation is which is worse, not knowing your loved one is an addict until you find he/she has died, or knowing and watching them self destruct over a period of years expecting that they will die each day. Anxiety, frustration, fear can kill you. It is an epidemic that contiuously needs to be addressed til everyone takes it seriously!
Thank you for having this on your show and thank you for having April on to tell about NCAPDA.
