I watched the show entitled “Reduce Stress in 15 Minutes, End Pain in 30…” and was intrigued by the three solutions offered by Dr. Mark Adickes. I investigated the links provided in “Related Resources”, but it seems that only the Tens unit provided a price. Coincidentally, I had JUST been researching this last night for a partially torn rotator cuff. I found this site, which not only has a cooling unit, but also a deep-heat therapy unit and an ultrasound therapy machine which is affordable enough for home use. I just thought you’d like to know. I plan on buying the Freezie Wrap and Thermo Wrap in the next couple of weeks. |

See if your insurance covers a TENS unit for home use. Maybe if you are referred to physical therapy by your doctor, when you go to your appointment, ask the physical therapist if they offer it under your insurance plan, you never know… |

Thanks for the suggestion, GreenFish. I went to physical therapy when I injured my rotator cuff the first time, and I’m not sure I want to add yet another weekly appointment to my schedule. I’m now using lidocaine patches for pain; but the products featured in the site above purport to HEAL injuries instead of just get rid of the pain. I also investigated rotator cuff stem cell injections (which is a treatment that was featured on Dr. Oz last week), but there aren’t any doctors in this area doing that yet. Besides, it’s still considered experimental, so I’m sure my insurance wouldn’t cover it. As you can see, I’ve been investigating all options…OTHER than surgery. But THANKS for your input! |

YOUR WELCOME, wordsmithalpha! You’re right, the TENS unit just temporarily reduces pain, never fully got rid of mine…I’m glad you are looking at all options to HEAL your pain before contemplating surgery. Good luck! (I watch Dr. Oz too! He supplies more supplement, food, and diet info, as well as alternative treatments, while the Doctor’s focus on general ways to improve health and wellness and shows the latest surgery options, gadgets, etc.) |

I agree with you! I feel that I get a more “well-rounded view” of everything by watching BOTH shows. And I respect Dr. Oz’s investigation into alternative medicine. As for surgery…not EVEN a consideration. I live alone, have CFS, and have a dog, so I wouldn’t even be able to function after surgery. That’s why finding ANOTHER method of healing is SO important. Thanks for your replies and support! :-) |

No problem! I know what you mean about surgery. I have been battling left foot pain since the mid-to-late 90s. Tarsal tunnel syndrome. About 12 years ago, a podiatrist recommended surgery, a “release” type of surgery similar to how they would do a hand in carpal tunnel syndrome, only they would be operating on my foot. I procrastinated and kept putting it off. I really didn’t want go through surgery! A couple years later, I started to take advantage of my Army benefits and went to the VA hospital podiatrist. He made me these custom made orthotics that actually worked! You stand on a machine, barefoot, and it takes an impression of your foot and puts it on a computer screen for the best accuracy ever. When I got them and put them on, I actually cried! Tears of joy!!! My pain was gone. I still can’t stand for long periods or run because it can always get inflamed again, but I’m happy with this solution. Good luck in all your endeavors! |
