Hello my friends,
I havent been here because I have been at RIVERSIDE METHODIST HOSPITAL Columbus, Ohio.
On Jan 1, 2009 my husband drove back from our family in NJ and was getting ready to report to work at 8 AM 1/1/09
He came in as I was sleeping and told me he wasnt feeling well.
I was in a deep sleep and thought (oh he just doesnt want to go to work mind) but I jumped out of bed. I put my glasses on and looked at him.
He was very pale and I asked him if he had eaten. "No" he said so I made him some quick oatmeal.
After I put the food down I looked at the top of his head. He is bald and all I saw when I looked at him was he was sweating profusly.
I started asking him more questions and he was speaking in jibber jabber to me. I looked at his knee which he messed up in the second week of December. I am looking at him sweating and his speech and how pale he was and I hesitated because I didnt want to do the wrong thing but my gut said call 911 and I did.
We live on the 2nd floor and I live in a secured building. I told him hold tight and I opened our house front door and I ran down and opened up the secured door and I heard the ambulance start to come.
It was EMT's because my husband at age 43 has had 3 heart attacks has 6 stints and when the people came they ran up stairs. My husband takes a lot of medications and some for HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE. The EMT's took his blood pressure and his bottom number was lower than /46
THANK GOD we live in the suburbs of COLUMBUS, Ohio The hospital which he was taken too is THE BESTfor Heart Attacks and strokes TOP TEN in The country! He has a blodclot in his heart 2 inches 3/4 of in inch. There were 5 different doctors some said he had a mini stroke because his speech was slurry and he understood what has gone on, but couldnt communicate it. Other docs say it was a crash in his blood pressure now he is still in the HOSPITAL because they gave him a drug called COUMIDIN to thin out his blood and must stay in until it has thinned his blood.
This is the truest form of being powerless.
I havent drank or used over this THANK GOD I AM IN RECOVERY. Being present at all cost's was what I think has saved his life. If I was using drugs or drinking even the night before my mind would not have been clear!
I just needed to write this out and clear my thoughts as to what will come. More Hospital over nights until the doctors releasehim!

I will say a quick prayer for you husband and you that all things works out and your husband will be feeling better very soon and that you will stay on the road to recovery during this trying time. I am very proud of you for not drinking during this because it could have been so very easy for you to pick up the bottle, but you didn't and shows just shows how strong and committed you are to keeping your sobriety. I have had family members in the past who have dealt with some of the same problems you have and some have lost their battles and some have won the war so keep fighting to win the war and know that we are here for you.
Lots of Love, Carrie
My families prayers go out to you and your husband. What a terrible way to start out the New Year. Is he doing better? I hope that he recovers quickly and you both stay healthy. My Father-In_Law had the same thing happen to him a few weeks ago, he got real dizzy, pale and was throwing up. It is so scary when you have no idea what is wrong. I am glad the EMT's got to him quickly and rushed him to the hospital. As for you, I am so proud that you are still clean. What an accomplishment...I know it may get rough on some days, but just look to the past and realize what you were like, then look into the future and see a woman free of any toxins. We all are standing by you and if you "ever" need support just let one of us know...Take care and God Bless...
Jeff
I am so glad you could get help so quickly.
You and your family will be in our thoughts daily.
Keep us informed.
