I was blonde and I didn't like it! Brunettes rule! Try with honey colors, I thing they you'd look nice.
And don't you have a hairdresser who works at home? They are cheaper, try there. :-)
I also spend around $50, but I go every 3 months ( I'm a poor student)
Thanks Gals!

Hey Sue. I have the same problem. I have to wear a ponytail for work and my grays are basically by my temples. Figures! Anyway, I used to get highlights done professionally because I like myself best in blonde highlights. Now I don't because I know that it would cost a fortune to keep touching up my grays that way. I now color from the box and try to stay near my natural color which is a light-medium brown. In the summer I went to my highest recommended level (according to the box) and used medium blonde. Now that it is fall, I am going to go back to light brown and maybe even medium brown eventually. I think the darker colors keep your hair healthier (??) and also, when it fades, it looks less brassy. Or at least on me it does. I make sure to use ASH tones because when I originally used a neutral/natural shade, it brought out tons of orangy tones and looked terrible. Oh, and my hairdresser told me to stop running whatever color I use all thru my hair because my ends are darker than my roots. Whether you use a light color or dark one, color on top of color always makes the hair get darker. She told me to let my ends fade and to just keep touching up my roots. I haven't done it that way yet but will be trying it tomorrow. Yeah, I can't wait to see how THAT works out!
Anyway, I think you could pull off both colors but I like warmer tones after summer is over and I know you looked good with your natural color. Good luck with whatever you decide!
your quite the unique individual aren't you, i read your blog and read through very deeply into all your words. Makes a difference when one can read between the lines, not sure if you know what i'm talking about but that doesn't matter. I find you rather amusing not in a bad way of course so keep blogging for i check every once in awhile just to see what people are saying. Hope you figured out your hair delema, Margie.
Personally I think you should do what ever makes you happy but you are a very beautiful lady no matter your hai color, I like your hair both colors just don't shave your hair, it won't suit you. By the way love the new picture you're a great couple
Carrie
I am a brunette, but have to have highlights put in to cover the grey and I am please with the way it looks.I was told as you age not to have dark hair all over, and it should be light around your face for a younger look.Hope that helps, but you should decide what you feel the best with.
Yvonne
Dear Sue,, I agree with Carrie. You are a beautiful woman, inside and out. What you do with your hair only matters for how you feel about you. We don't see color on this site. You shouldn't go bald though, because that would raise questions about your health and also would be hard to maintain. Who wants to be shaving every day? Go with Yvonnes and Pinkers suggestions, they seem wise and valid. Best of luck to you whatever you choose!
I love all your feedback! I am so worried about my husband and his gallbladder attacks i will just let my black roots come in and wear hats LOL
I wrote STUB/HUB please support and i sure hope THE DRS WILL DO A SHOW FOR MY TOMMY!

My advice, go to a professional and get it done in a med to light brown. Then pay the extra for prof highlights, at your age you can get away with 6 week intervals and highlights every 3 months. Because the pros only do the roots.
Mine came up with this suggestion when I turned 45 because I was getting so very sick and needed to not worry anymore about doing my own hair. She is a girl my son took to prom, 17 years ago. Small town, what can I say.
Another tip, go one color lighter than your real color or go warmer, or a touch of red to brighten up our aging skin. I love my highlights they make me look 10 yrs younger.
Good luck,
MK
I know exactly how you feel. I experimented one day when my husband was using his 'haircolor for men' semi-perm haircolor, it washes out after a month. But I knew that my hair that is overprocessed would 'grab onto' the haircolor, so I tried the Sandy Blonde tint. And it worked, now I have a natural haircolor, that is around a dark blonde, but it's nice and even all throughout. Now, when the roots grow in, I use the 'root' colors by miss clairol, that work well, and if I get it too light, I then use the haircolor for men again. The advantage to using the semi-perm color is beneficial to my hair, it put color deposits back into the really light hair and feels really good and not overprocessed. I hope this will help, or at least give you something to try.
