The Naked Face Project
Caitlin, 27, volunteered to go makeup and razor-free for 60 days for an experiment called “The Naked Face Project.” The project stemmed from Caitlin’s involvement with an afterschool program called Girls on the Run, which focuses on teaching young girls about character development, confidence and inner beauty. She joins The Doctors with two days left in her trial to discuss the experience.
“My naked face is really just my real face,” Caitlin says. “I’ve really learned to embrace the way I naturally am.”
Whether you cut, color, crimp or straighten your hair, it’s important to remember [that] your hair is a living body part,” E.R. physician Dr. Travis Stork says. “Hair is made of a tough protein called keratin. [The] hair follicle is the base of your hair and it is a living, growing thing. The hair bulb itself has cells that divide and grow, [which] is why your hair grows up to a half an inch per month," he explains. "When you're brushing [or] blow-drying your hair too much, that's when you'll end up with frizzy hair [and] split ends."

"When the opening to the surface [of your skin] gets clogged with dirt, makeup [and] excess oil, you form a plug in the sebaceous duct, [which creates] a good, old-fashioned blackhead," plastic surgeon Dr. Drew Ordon explains.
Dermatologists will often use comedone extractors to remove deep-rooted blackheads; however, improper usage of comedone extractors can damage skin and cause inflammation and/or infection. When eradicating blackheads at home, The Doctors recommend over-the-counter adhesive strips.
"You don't want to pick your blackheads with your fingers because you can cause an infection [or] injure your skin," Dr. Ordon adds.

The Ageless Woman
Annette Larkins has been preparing her own raw, vegan meals for 27 years. Her husband, Amos, says that people often question if Annette is his wife. “They say, ‘I see you’ve got your granddaughter with you,’” Amos says.
“I think we can find the time to do whatever we choose to do – whatever is important to us. So, it’s very important [to me] that I am healthy because I do believe that health is wealth and then everything else [in life] will follow smoothly,” Annette says.
