Just wondering what people think of bottled water vs tap and the pros and cons. I've heard with bottled wate rthe plastic can seep into the water ie, if left in a hot car. Also I've heard some brands are just tap water put in bottles...don't know what is true on that one. How's everone's tap water? Mine is ok mixed with something like diluted juice but drinking it plain makes me gag from the taste. I've come across so many other things about bottled water, can't recall them all, just know what I've heard and what I haven't.
What do people think about it all?

PS--On the voting I should have added if you drank some bottled and some tap (a little of each). That is what i tend to do -- tap if I mix it with juice, or hot tea, and bottled for most other stuff.

I really don't know the answer either, but they say your tap water is fine for you to drink and you don't need bottled.I hate water myself except in my coffee. But I know I have to drink it so I buy bottled without sodium in it.Then I do recycle it.

They say to drink only out of bottels with a 6 or higher on the bottom. They claim melissa eldridge breast cancer was linnked to the plastic bottels she was drinking out of for yrs. My self I bought a big water bottel from bed bath and beyond and we have a filter system.

This may sound a bit eccentric... but I drink distilled water. I only buy distilled water. I do not like tap water, I just really do not like the taste of it, at least in my part of the world.. maybe it's different elsewhere. I love water, but drinking it from the tap turns me off.. when I was little however, I use to drink it straight out of our hose! LOL But hey, I was a kid.... good times, good times. hehe
LOL....I used to drink all tap too as a kid...now plain tap water in this area doesnt taste the best plain either. What is the difference between distilled and bottled? Is there is a different taste?
Melissa.
I have decided to alternate what I do with just about everything. Sometimes filtered tap water ... Sometimes out of a plastic bottle, for convenience. But, I feel like drinking just one type / brand of water might not be best, especially if there could be something toxic in it that is unknown at this time.
I have wondered about all of our other plastics. The Glad storage tubs, plastic storage bags, disposable cups like Solo, which I have put in the dishwasher (!), plastic cups collected from sports events (which my children love to use), even tupperware. Has anyone read anything regarding these plastics?
I was told that any plastics put in the dishwasher could release toxins that would then seep into your drink.
As far as plastic storage bags, I was under the impression that if the food has cooled, it is then okay to store in the bag.
I am beginning to feel like it would benefit us all to remove plastic from the kitchen. Scary stuff.
What you have hear is what I've heard...like not to microwave food in plastic containers, dont store hot foods in the plsatic containers, both because it gets some chemicals from the plastic and it seeps into food. Also to never drink water that has been sitting in the car. Whether they are myths or not, I am plaaying it on the safe side, just going with the flow, but do it cautiously and reasonably.

Plastic is made from petrolium which is oil. When a bottle is not kept refridgerated (idk if i spelled that right), like when it sits on the shelves at the store or on the trucks to the stores the chemicals from the plastic seep into the water. This is one of the reason that guys' potency rate is getting lower. I say filtering water from the tap is the best and not drinking anything from plastic or cans (they are lined with plastic so they have the same effects.) Drinking from glass or rubber glasses or cups or bottles or whatever is best.
Thank you...I didn't know that!

Hi Melissa,
I have a filter on my water cause it is terrible
for city water, I carry bottled water to work.
Never reuse plastic water bottles, recycle!

Hi Missy,
I went to a seminar on water once, and they said the best bottled water to drink that is "off the shelf" in local grocery stores is Aquafina. Mostly all bottled water is tap water, some of it is spring water. However Aquafina is filtered much more than other brands, so supposely is better/safer. The water and sewer department here says if you want really pure water out of faucets that the price would be so prohibitive that you couldn't afford to drink it. I use it in cooking, but drinking even coffee I used filtered, and buy the bottled when I just want water.
Sunnie
Hi Sunnie,
Thanks for answering that. I'll try the Aquafina next. I use tap water for everything except straight drinking something.
Missy
You have a good point...no one would buy it from here either!
Melissa.
thanks goodness it is cooling down here in Vancouver. Anyways, I used to drink lot's of tap water in yrs; but since one of our friends tested our water and the color is kinda rusty or copper? I started purchasing bottled water. my children prefers to drink it too.
Have a good one.
Adela
How does one know that bottled water is not just tap water bottled? Talk about wasting your money
That's a good point. I don't remember the brands but there is one or two that are truly bottled water...the rest are tap bottled water, from what I've heard, you're right.

I live in Winnipeg Manitoba Canada, in the summer our water gets real awful and smelly because of algie. I expect this every summer in the month of August usually. However this summer the water smelled like the bug spray they spray at night to kill the bugs more so the blood sucking kind that I cant spell and couldnt find in the dictionary. Well I drank the water and so far I am in good health, I personally think bottle water is a great money making industry and that we can boil our tap water and use our own bottles. but I am as cheap as they come!
I drink bottled water, but if I boil tap water, like for my green tea, etc. I drink it. and I don't drink bottled water in plastic, if it has been laying in the heat and/or not refrigerated.. I am unsure of all the pros and cons.
