We had our share of the swine flu up here....I heard on the radio yesterday it may become mandatory for everyone if ________  (does anyone know what  the "if" is?)  Is this all true?

Yes I read about that and now I am very worried about getting the shot.I get a regular flu shot every year and planned on getting the H1N1,but now I don't know if I trust it.Wish somebody had for sure answers.We have had many deaths in Utah from it,and working in a Highschool I am getting scared again.

This is a direct quote from a Pumonologist that I heard myself 4 days ago. His quote kinda left me scratching my head. He simply stated it, and turned and walked away.

"If everyone gets the H1N1 vaccine, it'll bring me more business because everyone will be in the ICU on ventilators because they will develop Guillain Barre Syndrome"

kjones,thanks for the inside info. you heard.My hubby and I have decided we will not be getting the H1N1 shots.From reading about it and from what you heard we made up our minds.When I heard last stages of clinical trails that confimed it for me.I don't want to be a guiana pig.

I wouldn't think that anyone has the right to tell you that you have to take the shot,or anything else for that matter.Do they? I would say that would being giving up civil rights almost.

I've heard only that it MIGHT become mandatory if the swine flu gets out of control, to prevent as much as possible, and if you don't get it you need to be quarantined----I know that  makes no sense AT ALL, but my mother heard it too and I asked her if that was true and she said it might come down to that.  I asked if it was Obama's idea and she said she didn't know.  I know whatever was said I became nervous because I do NOT want the vaccine either, like you.  I'm going to google it now.

Thanks Pinkers, I don't know how they will know if you've had the vaccine or not.  Maybe you'll have to sign a paper so they (where you work) have a signed copy and I'm guessing that if you get sick and they find out you really didn't get it you wouldn't get paid for sick time, or something on that level.  As you know a signed paper is legal and binding, so if you end up having to sign something for the vaccination, PLEASE read the SMALL print.

Ok, got some more scoop. I asked another Pulmonologist today about this vaccine. He stated that he personally would receive the H1N1 vaccine if it was the 2 series shot. They are developing a "one" shot vaccine, but it contains an ADJUVANT. He stated he would not receive a vaccine with a adjuvant in it. You guys catching my drift? A vaccine that contains an adjuvant, can achieve the same immune response VS. a "2" shot series. Therefore, it saves money. But at what cost? These adjuvants are great in the sense that they increase immune response which would spare everyone from getting a booster, plus there'd be more vaccines to go around. But these adjuvants have caused serious side-effects. Guillian Barre being one of those side effects.

Pinkers, the 1976 Swine Flu. Is that the one you're talking about? It is different from H1N1. I think the 1976 virus contained only swine and human DNA in it. H1N1 has swine, bird and human DNA in it. That vaccine would've been different than the present one, BUTTTT! I bet the 1976 vaccine was made quickly and efficiently with an ADJUVANT. Pinkers, that's terrible about your Family Doctor. Some people recover without a scratch but some have been left Paralyzed. I think sometimes, Vaccines, can cause an over-stimulating effect on the immune system, and things like this happens. It has been recently discovered that F.D.R. indeed had Guillain Barre Syndrome instead of Polio. Back in 1921, no ever heard of this illness. Doctors looked at his fever and paralysis and assumed it was Polio. He did not have Polio. He came down with the mysterious symptoms while he was out of the Country and probably caught an illness that caused the snowball effect of G. Barre.

I'm watching the drs. and Dr. Lisa is saying it is mandatory for pregnant women.  Not just the flu shot. but also the H1N1 vaccine.  I don't think we live in a police state, so it can't really be mandatory.

The Doctor's show is preempted today because of sports.

Ok I am getting freaked here.I'm with damsell since when can anybody police our lives????I work at a Highschool and I don't want to be put in a position that I have to have this vaccine or lose my job.Please vote on my "Produce my idea" and vote for them to do a show on this.I have my right as an American not to get this H1N1 shot.

My doctor told me yesterday that I should get

the shot, he says he will after it's been out a

couple weeks. I hate to say it but I believe it

will come down to health care workers and

school personel having to get the shot. It's

already mandatory in some states and pinkers is right,

other states are considering this. The idea of

the shot doesn't scare me as much as the

number of people it could effect. It they are telling

students to stay home 24 hrs after contact, who

is going to pay for the parents having to miss work

to stay home with them? Some workers don't get

sick days. OOps just meant to write a line or two.

Just heard on the news the H1N1 vaccine has been approved.  Anyone else heard anything about it?

There is only one shot needed, and children and pregnant women get it first.  That seemed cut and dry when they said it on the news.  Don't know why medical personnel don't have priority.

Yes, i've heard repeatedly that only one shot is needed.  Maybe medical personnel need more, but I'm pretty sure only one shot is needed.

I hope they know what they are doing or we're screwed.  I also hope the vaccine is the right one to combat the Swine flu to help prevent it.  I know they've spent a long time working on it but I'm always skeptical of vaccines.  Just my opinion though.

Yes I heard it's only one shot,but I'm still not willing to take a chance on the terrible side effects.I am at risk with my COPD,but I need more proof.

They added the adjuvant to the one shot. Since there is now an adjuvant, it makes the vaccine more powerful. That's why two shots are no longer needed. The adjuvant ingredient is what causes adverse reactions such as Guillian Barre. That's why I will not get this vaccine. Not all vaccines have adjuvant ingredients.

They just approved the nasal spray for the H1N1 flu.  It is the ONLY one approved yet re: the vaccination.  Said on NBC news.

WOW -- those videos are very informative.  There's no way anyone would want  a flu vaccine and/or a H1N1 vaccine after hearing that doctor talk abou it.....the thing is though is that some people are required to get them, ie, ones in the medical field, or hospital setting etc, how can they say no and keep their job.  Yes, there are the warnings but do people who give the shots or whomever, really listen to things like this.  I'd rather risk the Swine flu and the regular flu than get these vaccinations because of all the side effects, none of which are really "good".

I am going tomorrow to get my regular flu shot.I get them every year and have had no reaction to it.Now the H1N1 shot I will not get.I will also take my chances.

Giving children tylenol after the vaccine to lower the low grade fever reduces the effectivness of the vaccine.

I've had a heart transplant (going on 14 years) and a kidney transplant (4 years).  I'm told to get the flu shot every year.  Now i'm told to get the swine flu vaccine after I receive the regular flu shot.  I didn't get either, and I don't plan on it.  Especially the swine!!  Each time i've received the flu shot, I got sick for at least a month during the winter....so....i'm not getting them any more!!!!  (havn't gotten the flu, either)  Too scary!!

I've had 2 friends get sick after getting the regular flu shot, whether it was coincidence or not.  I don't get them either.
