Asthma, Allergies, and Speech

I'm 20 years old and have had chronic asthma as a child. I started growing out of asthma by the time I was in my mid teens. As a child, I loved to participate in class and in plays. I loved being interactive and social. That seemed to change when I entered high school. I had my first sinus infection when I was 17. Ever since, my nose has been congested and talking has been difficult. I'm more hesitant to speak, simply because talking hurts and is kind of troublesome. I feel severely hampered in my day to day living. So, my parents and I decided to get myself allergy tested. It turns out, I'm allergic to several environmental pollens and a number of trees and weeds. So I am currently on allergy shots for desensitization. Talking has become EVEN MORE burdensome. I sincerely do not know what to do and would love advice from anyone. Would the difficulty speaking be a problem with airway constriction or nasal congestion? Is this something someone has ever heard of?
