I have a very strong odor that I can smell and a bit of clear discharge this always happens after my period but I don't know the reason behind it and last for several weeks after that. I can myself well but it just comes back It is really nasty.

Hi Miranda :)
I'd talk to your DR about that.
Melissa.
Have you tried drinking more water during your cycle and changing your period products to something more natural? Try the "Diva Cup"
Hi again Miranda! Clear discharge is supposedly normal. Sometimes a strong odor means nothing, maybe it's because you sweat more than usual (and maybe need a quick water rinse, or water and a mild fragrance-free soap down there! Be careful with soaps, I once used a harsh soap "down there" and experienced pain down there for a couple weeks, it threw off my pH balance big time).
Or maybe you ate something strong like garlic. My period sometimes smells bad, but my husband doesn't even notice, I'm being overly sensitive to my own smell!
BUT sometimes bad odor can mean an infection, so if it's with yellow, green, or yeasty-white-cottage-cheese discharge, see a gynocologist asap!
Thanks you all for the response. Mellisa I have not but will I have yet to see a DR about that lump on my boob.. XtinaMireles I am starting to now because I can get very dehyrated and I've heard about that I should try it. GreenFish Hello! I do sweat more than usual... maybe I should try some different soaps I hope it isn't an infection but the discharge sometimes has a white cottage cheese look to it..
Definetly see a doctor, you could have a yeast infection, and if you are having sex with your husband, you may be giving it to eachother, he may need to be tested as well.
XtinaMireles, I read your blog about the Diva Cup and I might give it a try. If I were in my 20s I probably would say Yuck!, but in my late 20s I tried sponges and spermicide suppositories with my husband, then a few years ago I got on Nuvaring birth control, where you stick the plastic ring in and take it out of your vagina with your fingers, so I'm not grossed out anymore at having to touch my vajay-jay!
Ways to prevent infections down there in the future: Vitamin C foods or supplement (research Vitamin C and you will see that it prevents yeast/candida overgrowth), cut back on sugar (eliminate sugar when you think you have and infection because sugar "feeds" the bacteria and viruses, and yes, water is always a cheap and easy way to help with anything and everything!
I am in high school still and a virgin. The DivaCup does seem reasonable but not sticking my fingers up there lol But yes cut the sugar!
Miranda~
So Sorry, I thought you were older, if you are still a virgin and experiencing these issues, definitely tell your mom and go to the doctor. Or you could by the Vagisil Ph Test; it runs about $9.00 at CVS or Rite Aid, that would give you some sort of idea of what is going on. Also, if you are having "fun" with boys or a boyfriend, remember that hands are very dirty, and can cause infections as well. My daughter who is not 19 had that problem and it was cured with antibiotics. Best of luck, but please tell your mother or caregiver that you are having these issues, left untreated could get very serious. Take care
If you are not comfortable talking to your parent about this, try taking to a friends mother or a close friend, someone will help you.
im eieghteen now going to college in agust but thank you for informing me my problem has went away and no, no boyfriends just yet still a proud virgin. thanks again
