Woot! I was so encouraged to weigh this morning and discover I'm down 3 pounds on Day 2...awesome start that will keep me going. I know I won't lose 3 lbs. every day (wouldn't that be nice?), but I was only expecting 2 lbs. for the first day so that extra pound was a real treat.
I have the joy of being retired, so I usually don't get up real early. I tend to be a night owl, not a morning person. But I was actually anxious to arise this morning as soon as I woke up for two reasons: first, to weigh myself, and second, I knew the sooner I got up the sooner I could have breakfast! Ha! I admit being hungry when I went to sleep last night, and I feel hungry now as I sip my hot water with lemon. I take a thyroid medication that has to be taken on an empty stomach in the morning and I can't eat anything for an hour. I'm blogging to kill the time!
A visual aid I'm using is an idea I got from Pinterest. I have two small, clear vases on a bathroom shelf. In one there are 40 colored glass stones (the kind you buy for decorating), one for every pound I have to lose. It's tied with a pretty ribbon and a tag that says "Pounds to Go" - and another vase next to it is labeled "Pounds Lost." It has 3 shiny glass stones in it this morning! As you lose weight, move the stones from one vase to the other and hopefully all the stones get transferred. : ) I got my vases and glass stones from Dollar Tree, so it cost just $3.

Good for you! The visual aid you speak of sounds like a good idea, especially for anyone that needs to "see" changes. I'm on d8, good that I like chicken! I made that chicken vegetable soup from the book and it was very good. Tonight I'm trying the eggplant parm recipe.
I hope you have a good day.
Kitty
Thanks, Kitty! I haven't tried the soup yet but I do have the ingredients to make it. I live in a small town and can't find fat free Parmesan cheese in any of the 3 grocery stores (not even Safeway or IGA). I'm bummed because several of the recipes I want to try call for it. I like chicken, too, and can eat it every day without tiring of it. Can't say the same for my hubby, so my challenge will be varying my protein choices to suit him as well without fixing two different meals all the time. Fortunately, he is very supportive and not a picky eater at all, so he'll eat anything I fix! ; ) Also, I bought an eggplant and was planning to fix the eggplant parm recipe, but now don't have the parm I need. I don't want to use anything not on the plan as I am determined to stick with this.
I couldn't find the fat free parm, I checked the labels and got the one with the lowest carb count. Maybe bent the rule but really wanted to try this recipe. I'm going to look further and see if I can find some fresh grated or even kind I have to grate in the FF...
Thoughts on the chicken issue! After the first 17 days we can add beef, pork and if I remember shell fish... so hang in there! When I made the soup I used left over chicken so it was a nice way to use that up and mix up my meals.
just a thought - if you cant find the parm in your town maybe you can order it online?
Another day down and another one underway!
Have a good day.
My friend (who also started the plan when I did) and I went to a nearby town today and found most of the ingredients we couldn't find in our local stores. We were so jazzed! We're going to tell our local store managers that if they won't stock the items we need, we'll just go out of town to get them!! So there.
I fixed the Mushroom and Onion Chicken last night for dinner and it was so awesome! Hubby loved it, too. It's going to be a regular dinner item for us. I fixed steamed green beans as side dish and added an instant loaded mashed potato side dish for hubby. I didn't even lick the spoon when making it for him. ; ) This was day 3 and I'm down 3.5 pounds. Expected another pound or so loss second day, but I'm okay with what I've lost thus far. Maybe tomorrow will bring a bit more to cheer over.
Our daughter and all of my husband's family lives in MO. Are you Kansas City KS or MO?? My husband was born and raised in a small town southwest of St. Louis and our daughter moved to Cape G. 4 years ago to work at the university there after getting her Master's here in CA. Hubby and I are taking a road trip to MO in May to visit her and his family. Small world, eh?
I'll have to try the mushroom chicken! I am south of KC KS a small town Louisburg. It is a small world my grandmothers family comes from St Jo, Festus and St Louis MO. I am (originally) from Arizona, was in the Marine Corps and spent years in CA (southern). Moved to KS about 12 years ago. I have a friend that lives in Cape G. I've never been there.
You are doing great keep it up. I weighed in today c1d10 down 5.8! I am soooooo pleased. I have not had luck with any other programs that I have tried over the last two years - including WW which had worked in the past.
I am feeling so much better!
Here's to another good day for us!
About the FF parm cheese .. many people posted they could not find it, so they got a low-fat version of it and said they thought it didnt make a difference.
Melissa.
Hi Kitty and Melissa! Hope your day is going great. It's so nice to have "commrades" on this weight loss journey so we can help and encourage each other. Thanks for info. on parm cheese...I've decided to do the best I can with what I have and simply limit my amounts and not make it a daily addition to my menus.
I know where Festus is! In fact, my hubby and I are going to be house-hunting while we're in MO next month and we're looking at homes in the Festus/Farmington/Ste. Genivieve areas since they're about half-way between our daughter in Cape and husband's family in High Ridge. We've been looking at homes on-line and plan to get together with a realtor and check out a few in person. It's a possibility we may retire there. Though I'm a total Cali girl and the relocation will be hard. I love the mountains and being just a 6-hr. drive from the No. Cal coast. Our son and daughter-in-law live in So. Cal and love it, but it's still too pricey for us (and I HATE the traffic down there!). We'll see what happens.
Have a successful day!
Can someone please tell me where the diet is, I registered and did everything, I hope I do not have to go buy a book...
