Cycle 1 Newbie D12

Woot! I was beginning to think I'd reached a plauteau after losing the 6 lbs. in week 1. But today's weigh-in showed another 1.5 lbs. lost...yeah! That's a 7.5 lb. total on Day 12, and I'm thrilled. Maybe I should only weigh myself every other day so that I'm more likely to see that loss, which is so motivating for me to stick with the plan. I've heard both sides of the "how often to weigh" debate, and I'm inclined to weigh daily simply because for me it helps me stay on track. If there's a loss, I'm motivated and encouraged to stay with it. If there's a slight gain, I usually know why and know if need to get back to following the plan 100%.

My big challenge coming up will be a road trip vacation, and I'll be starting Cycle 2 just a few days before leaving. I plan on packing a cooler with snacks on that are allowed (no trail mix with M&M's which is my usual road trip go-to snack!). I have no intention of "blowing it" while on vacation, though I know there may be times I allow myself a little something extra. It's a challenge to stay 100% on plan when you're away from home, but I'm going to do my very best.

Here's to a successful day for all my 17 Day Diet buddies on The Drs. blogs!! Have a great day!

Great job!!!!  You can do this!!!  Yes trail mix can be a killer huh!!  I think that is a great idea to pack friendly snacks!!  And most all the places you go you can make great meal decisions.  You can order just plain chicken breast with steamed veggies or a salad and just make your own dressing from balsalmic vinegar and olive oil.  You can do this!!!!!!

Hi, I'm new to the blog, and on day 8 of the diet, so I am a newbie too. I have 8 more days until I have a 3-day Vegas vacation w/ my kids, so I'm a little nervous about that, too. At home, I have control over what foods are in the house, but when you're out, and get too hungry, that could cause problems. I wonder if beef ( or turkey ) jerky would be good for snacking on the road. Is it permissable on cycle 2 ??  Have a great day :)

I would take a look at the label on jerky. I don't eat it), but my guess is that it has a high sodium content. Salt is one of the "use in moderation" items on this plan (as are other spices and condiments). I hear you on the control issue! I can buy only what I can eat at home and stick to the plan 100%. Staying with my mom-in-law and daughter, and staying in motels, eating out many times, is definitely going to take a lot of discipline on my part. I've got to do some shopping as soon as we arrive and stock up on my foods. That will help a lot.
