It's been a couple of months since I've posted here due to going on a 6-week road trip! I tried my best to stick to the plan while on vacation, but there were some challenges (like eating at the homes of friends and family where you have no control over what's served!). Portion control was the key for those times. My goal was to maintain my weight loss and not GAIN any pounds I'd worked so hard to get off. Although I only lost 2 lbs. over the six weeks, I was okay with that since I usually gain 5-8 pounds during vacations!
As soon as I returned home, I went back to Cycle 1 just as the book recommends when your goal weight hasn't been reached after 3 cycles. I've begun to lose again and it feels great. I started the plan on April 1, and as of today I've lost 19.5 pounds total and 12" overall. I'm down two sizes and it's so nice to be fitting into clothes that haven't fit in about 10 years AND buying smaller sizes. I'm about half way to my personal goal weight.
One of the best rewards was having my cardiologist keep saying, "Wow!" when I saw him last week. He was amazed and recommended I stop taking one of my high blood pressure meds. That's a huge benefit to losing the weight! I'm also no longer border-line diabetic and I've brought my cholesterol level from 237 down to 115. My wellness was the primary reason I started this plan, so I've come a long way in a relatively short time thanks to Dr. Mike and the 17 Day Diet Plan!
I will keep on keeping on because the results are most definitely worth the effort. If you're strugging, remember your goal and keep moving toward it with focus and resolve. If I can do it, you can too!

Congratulations! I've lost a total of 4 of the 10 or so pounds I want to lose on the 17DD. I was happy with losing one pound in Cycle 2. Now I'm near the end of Cycle 3, and it looks like I might have just lost another pound, hard to tell, the scale keeps giving me different readings. If not, then I've at least stayed the same and haven't gained.
Your cholesterol level is phenomenal!!! It's like you're a kid again! Wow!!! Again, congrats!
Thanks, GreenFish. Cycle 1 is definitely the rapid loss cycle compared to the others! But I think the closer you get to that goal weight the harder it is to lose the pounds. I've lost rapidly because I had a lot more weight to lose. My goal is not the same as the book chart, that's for sure. Considering my age and body type, I would look anorexic if I was 125 lbs., not to mention I'd probably fall over or have major back problems due to being, um, amply blessed in a certain upper body area. Amazingly, I never seem to lose weight there...not much way to exercise them either. I do lose inches through my upper back though, and I can tell that from my clothing and the way my bras fit.
Keep on keeping on...your goal will be reached if you stick with it, I'm sure!! I sure hope to get to the place where I only have that last 10 pounds to go. : )
I totally agree with you on his chart. I'm assuming I'm medium boned, so acccording to his chart, my height, 5 foot 0 inches, the weight says 95! I would look totally anorexic too! I just want to be 105 and I'll be happy!
When I was a teenager I was 94lbs, and it looked fine because I was young! Now I'm 37, 94lbs would look very odd and my precious, much needed fat on my face would disappear and I would look gaunt! Thanks! Talk to you later!
Correction: for my height and assuming I'm medium-boned, the book says 100lbs, which is still too low in my opinion. If I'm actually small-boned, it says 85lbs, and I'm sorry, but I was 85lbs in 5th grade!
I haven't lost any weight in Cycle 3, and I know why. I was all gung-ho about working out 60 mins a day for 5 days a week, and I did so on the first 2 days, then I didn't work out for the rest of the cycle! So now I'm contemplating repeating Cycle 2...or maybe Cycle 3 but this time get serious with working out consistently!
