I have a 13 year old son, he has stomach pain, vomiting, very tired also. This has gotten progressively worse and has been going for 8 months. His ped. Dr doesnt know what's wrong, ref. us to a GI dr. My son had a colonoscopy done, only showed reflux and inflammation. Usually episodes last 2-4 days and happen 1-2 times per month. Dr prescribed Prilosec, which has not helped at all. Please, if anyone has any helpful info, it would be so appreciated! It stops him from going to school, doesn't feel up to any favorite activities, says resting/ sleeping seems to help. I don't want this to be something he has to deal for the rest of his life. Also, he's been tested for food allergies, not that. Please HELP!

Has he had any recent bloodwork done? Maybe there is something other than GI going on? Have you gone for a second opinion?
Melissa.

You can stop inflammation and reflux by changing a diet from a pro-inflammatory one to an anti-inflammatory diet. Have your son avoid pro-inflammatory foods and increase his intake of anti-inflammatory foods.

Also, just because your son tested negative for food allergies doesn't mean he doesn't have food intolerances, which cannot be tested. I discovered later in life that I had a gluten intolerance. It was causing inflammation, causing me to be tired all the time, and caused major stomach pain. I had heard about gluten intolerance, so I decided to eliminate it from my diet...and all the symptoms went away and I felt great!!! Try the elimination diet with your son :

When I was 11 I had bouts of stomach pain with vomiting and they found gallstones after nearly 7 months of my suffering. It was only when I got pancreatitis that they found them. Has he had an upper gi test? It may be worth it just to check it out. They did not expect it in me at the young age I was. I had gallbladder surgery where it was removed. I am now 43 and would not want another child to have to suffer. If he gets worse after eating fatty foods, fried foods or spicy foods it may be worth looking into. Check with the GI Dr. and ask his opinion. If you do not like the answer get a second or third opinion until your son improves with treatment of some kind.
