Scleroderma

I am a 34 year old woman who was just diagnosed with scleroderma. It is a rare disease that causes organ failure, lung problems and too much to name. The average life span for someone with this disease is 10-12 years.I have been sick for 5 years and no doctor could find out what was wrong.I was diagnosed with acid reflux,IBS,and colitis.I told my doctor that something was still wrong and he said no I have checked you and that is it. I continued to get sicker. My legs have been in terrible pain and I cannot hardly walk anymore for a year now and I have seen 5 different types of doctors and had numerous tests done.I finally went to a rhumetologist and she did blood work and tested me for Scleroderma and sure enough I have it.Turns out all of my pains and sicknesses were caused from this disease.Always trust your body because it knows best. I think people need to be educated about this. If I would have trusted all the other doctors I would never know what was wrong. Now I have a chance to love my husband and kids even more and make the best of the rest of my life.

I also have a similar story although I ended up having to have 2 major surgeries because I was not diagnosed correctly - IBS is something they diagnose you with if they don't have a clue.
