Back Surgery's

Posted by roadrage to Surgery, Nov 1, 2009 7:11pm

I have e-mailed your show a couple of times I am in great need of help I have no life at all and can't get any help I just get pills prescribed to me both of my legs have continues to get numb which increased my pain I feel like I don't have any legs at times when I am standing. I can't get help from my doctors and have suffered since 7-2004 and wish you would do a show to help people like me. I just want some life back I basically stay in my house the majority of the time because no matter what I do it sends me into severe pain and numbness sitting is one of the worse thing just doing this I am already numb. I know you get a lot of e-mails and have tried so many places to try and get some help I just turned 50 years old and would like to do at least a couple of things I love to do. I have had 3 surgery's and 2 surgery's in less than 8 month's in 2008 and have only seen my Ortho Doctor once 22 days after the last surgery in November 2008. I know you are most likely not interested in my case but I need help severely and thought that your show is so caring and have helped so many people that it has shocked me and I feel like this show is my last resort. Thank You Very Much for Your Time if you ever get to read this suggestion.

I certainly can relate! I started with Restless leg syndrome years ago. It was at a point that I did not want to go to bed because I knew I would be up most of the night. I finally had a MRI and found that I had two protruding discs...I had surgery 18 months ago - flexible fusion. It as an easy surgery for me...but the pain continued. Another MRI showed swelling in the L5/S1 discs and I had to have a permanent fusion...again, another easy surgery, but the pain is still there. I even bought a sleep number bed thinking it would help. I cannot lay flat without the pain. I do ok during the day when I am in an upright position...lying down is not an option for me anymore. I live on half a pain pill before I go to bed...it i a concern for me, however, if I do not take it, I am up most of the night and after 3 or 4 nights of not sleeping, I will crash because I'm exhausted. I do hope they do a show on this issue. Jane LeMond-Alvarez
