MRSA

Posted by clcaldwell3 to Pediatric/Parenting, Sep 9, 2009 12:41pm

Detailing all there is to know about MRSA. Complications and medciations to treat it.
You could do a whole segment on just my children...I have twins who were diagnosed with MRSA in their ears over a year ago...just recently diagnosed again...It never went away...now dealing with chronic ear infections, perforations, multiple surgerys in 8 months, just about every antibiotic has been used that has either upset stomach or been allergic to. This has been going on for 2 years..they see a specialist and have tried just about everything..whats this doing to my children? Hearing, antibiotic resistance, pain, behavior issues...HELP!

Also..when should they be taken out of school and church functions in fear of spreading it...Like I said this has been going on for 2 years and the doctors say its ok and if they drain, which they do put a cottonball in which in my opinion just attracts attention of other kids to pull it out...the odor is awful all the time drainage or not...what should you do????

I posted this a few days ago and since then I was referred to a infectious disease control doctor...we went today and found out they were being treated with medicine that would even help....how frustrating....now we have started a new medicine that we have to go and get a cbc done every week to check the bone marrow....this medicine could do something to it...

I would like to add that since I first posted this idea that things have gone roughly downhill... Recently one of the twins were hospialized for mastoiditis. Upon new cultures MRSA was finally gone after 3 years....now we have a new bacteria, psuedomas, he came home on a central line and once that has finished we will do oral antibiotics. This was so scary.....now I am scared to even take him off the medicine when he has finished with his treatment. If anyone knows anything on this subject the world needs to know...from what I understand this is becoming very common! Please do a update show
