Cataract surgery is the number 1 surgery done in the US. With the advancing age of Americans and the growing baby boomer population, information about cataracts and the surgical technology is very sought after. I am a Professor of ophthalmology and my specialty training is in cornea and cataract surgery. I practice at the University of California -- Irvine. I could come on the show and describe cataracts -- who gets it, what are the symptoms,how to slow its progression, and what the surgical removal entails.
