diverticulosis/diverticulitis

Colon problems are becoming more prevelent among all ages. I had a colonoscopy and was never told I had diverticulosis. Two months ago I had the most agonizing pain which I thought was a blocked bowel. I had major bad bowel movements along with vomiting, sweating alternating with cold chills and found myself on the bathroom floor unable to get up. After about 30 minutes I called my son to take me to emergency. After hours of blood tests, CAT scans and x-rays I was told I had diverticulitis. I was given antibiotics through an IV and a prescription for two oral antibiotics. Then I was sent home. Two days later I did a follow-up with my personal doctor that knew I had diverticulosis. This information should have been given to me after the colonoscopy and maybe some literature on warning signs of what to expect with diverticulitis. The Doctor's Show could show inside the colon and the common pockets that form. How dangerous is diverticulitis? What happens when it isn't treated? Most people aren't aware of the symptoms and the dangers with colon problems. Also, the doctors also said the food you eat does not affect an onset. Eating corn is just a myth and food is already digested before it gets to the large intestine. Sincerely, Sandra Hubrich
