I recently spoke with community member, amagyar, and I feel so inspired! She wants us to produce a segment on comprehensive newborn screening. We started researching and found out that not every state tests for all disorders when babies are born. This can be deadly. Amy told me about her daughter’s story in such a personal way, that her passion rubbed off on me. I have been working with Dr. Jim and we have an amazing segment that will tell you everything you need to know about tests your newborn should have. We are interviewing Scott Baio and his wife about the issue and want to make sure we get the word out there to new moms and moms-to-be. Check our show schedule so you don't miss this important show!

Winter brings a lot of our favorite things -- snow, time with family over the holidays and lots of great food. But, there are many other things we need to be aware of during the chilliest part of the year!
ProduceTheDoctors.com community member MaryPat asked for a show about how to “Winterize Your Body”, and no doubt about it, this was a great idea! We had lots of questions from other viewers who were also curious about changes to their health over the winter, so we decided to answer as many winter questions as we could.
The Doctors have some great tips and information to share with you about this, and we are having a great experience putting this show together for YOU, our viewers. (We’re even making our set into a “Winter Wonderland”!)
So, we hope you have as much fun watching it as we did putting it together!
Happy winter!

The Doctors was created to give you the tips and tools you need to live a healthier life. Our doctors and our production staff go to work every day with that mission in mind, and it so exciting when it comes alive on our set! Six months ago, The Doctors surprised (or ambushed, depending on your perspective!) one of our own staff, "Chunky B". At 268 pounds, Chunky's running joke was, "My wife tells me to get in shape and I say, 'Round is a shape!'" But his dangerously high blood pressure and body fat were no laughing matter. Community member Sinduhrella submitted a post asking what happened to Chunky. Sinduhrella, you're getting the update you asked for, and it's a transformation you're going to have to see to believe! In the episode "Surviving the Holidays with Jillian," Jillian Michaels joins The Doctors to help you avoid the biggest holiday health traps. Plus, we take you inside the body to show you what really happens when you overdo it on Turkey Day and give you practical fitness and travel tips! So whether you want to know how to cut calories from your family's favorite holiday foods, how to get to grandma's without catching the flu, or, like Sinduhrella, want to know if Chunky is now "Hunky" -- tune in! As Chunky B told us during the taping, "This is not TV; this is life!" I couldn't have said it better myself.

As a producer of The Doctors, I'm always looking for ways to keep people informed and teach them something they may not know. We’ve been following a couple of stories: a man and wife battling breast cancer (in the same breast) simultaneously; a 14-year-old with a cyst behind his sinuses that was making him constantly nauseous, dizzy, blurring his vision and giving him headaches; and I came across travelindaisy27's post about Long QT Syndrome. We realized that there are numerous silent health conditions that affect people who don't even realize it and decided to produce a show to alert people. We're going to explore the symptoms, treatments, tests and procedures involved with silent health threats. I talked to Jan, travelindaisy27, last week and found out she was diagnosed for 23 years with epilepsy, and for the last year thought she was having panic attacks. We thought her story and the Long QT syndrome fit with our theme. Be sure to tune-in when the show airs to learn the signs you need to watch for to make sure you're not suffering from a silent health condition.

We’d like to give a huge thank you to daniellec in New Jersey for submitting her “bruises” idea for the show. Danielle wanted The Doctors to address the best way to treat bruises, and whether bruises are related to blood clots. So, Danielle, we heard you, and guess what? Our doctors are going to address your question with some insider tips on how to decrease bruising, and we’re also investigating whether bruising easily could be a symptom of something more serious. We’re taping the story this week, so check TheDoctorstv.com line-up to see when it will air. Then watch your idea come to life on The Doctors! Keep submitting your ideas! They’re great, we’re listening and stay tuned for more ideas in production.

As a producer, it’s hard to know when people want to be entertained and when they really want to learn the hard facts.
ProduceTheDoctors.com community members like stephann, WYMEE, mabibee, cmortimer, bearrun, stellasfellas and many others really have opened my eyes. I was surprised to read so many curious, interesting and even emotional posts that our viewers have recently written about scary topics like diabetes, ovarian cancer, heart disease, liver problems and even herpes!
I decided to start doing some in-depth research on these topics and was shocked by the statistics! If I didn’t know these stats, I could bet a lot of other people didn’t, either. I knew we had to do a show all about surprising medical statistics, but I wanted to make sure we didn’t just SCARE people. I wanted to make sure we gave them a wake-up call and real information they can use to AVOID being a medical statistic. Thus, the title of our show was born.
I hope all our viewers -- especially stephann, WYMEE, mabibee, cmortimer, bearrun, stellasfellas -- and enjoy the show… and more importantly that they learn something!
