Crutches needed in Haiti.
I have seen so many good to very good condition crutches set curb side for City Pickup TRASH day in Dallas. When I saw I'd grab and donate. ONLY to learn that charities throw out truckloads of donations each week since no place to store. Eyewitness account at Thrift World that accepts donations for National Kidney Foundation. I was told I could have everything left over for two cents a pound yet not just books when I saw OVER 100 very good condition books being thrown away from best sellers to childrens to autographed.
Then, I heard from persons working for that two other charities do the same thing. Not only that many of items used for garage sales. Which then makes one wonder are charities just getting two cents a pound because for that'd be two dollars for 100 books. Books that donors donated having NO IDEA would be trashed due to no place to store.
I often see UNUSED left over medical supplies set curb side after a family member passes away. I alert persons dangerous in case children got into since SET CURB SIDE as TRASH. Woman offered some to me since medications expensive yet I was concerned I'd get in trouble legally if I took to donate. Plus, had already seen on news TV show that unused medications ROUTINELY flushed down toilets at nursing homes when resident dies.
Once a home where gynecologist moved... about ten 50 lb. packing boxes of prenatal vitamins and calcium samples not expired yet ruined from sitting out in Texas sun. Another time at least ten unexpired CASES of prescription liquid nutritional supplement (perhaps for feeding tube) set by curb for city TRASH pickup.
THIS IS WASTEFUL CRAZINESS IN WANT OF A BETTER COORDINATED EFFORT THAT IF U.S. GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS WON'T ALLOW U.S. CITIZENS TO RECEIVE, PERHAPS, COULD SHIP TO COUNTRIES LIKE HAITI THAT NEED. It is mind boggling to me that OVER 40 MILLION IN USA go without medical care and more than that many are unable to afford medical supplies and vitamins SET CURB SIDE AS (TRASH) or FLUSHED DOWN TOILET at NURSING HOMES.
AWARENESS IS KNOWLEDGE THAT EMPOWERS POSITIVE "CHANGE REACTION".
I have a pair of crutches now. If Red Cross or Y'all et al designate drop off sites I'll donate in a New York Minute. As well, we need drop off sites citywide nationwide of unused or no longer needed medical supplies and equipment. ZERO REASON "EVER" SET CURB SIDE AS TRASH or FLUSHE DOWN TOILET. As a matter of fact, now wonder increasing levels of medications are ending up in water supplies.
PLEASE RESPOND WITH ACTION. Thank you.
