As a reading specialist I've found that many children and adults have a problem with their two eyes not tracking together, thus they can't read because of eye muscle problems. In addition, they may be ADD/ADHD which is often caused by this condition and they need to see a "Vision Therapist", a special optometrist who has therapy sessions to strengthen the eyes. In addition, they may need to see an Occupational Therapist for sensory integration exercises. It all boils down to physical and eye exercises to help and often cure ADHD/ADD and then they can focus on reading! Schools are not allowed to tell parents about this remedy because then the schools are responsible for the cost. Most pediatricians don't know about it. It's becoming more known with the autistic community, but those w/o autism also benefit. For info go to www.visiontherapy.com to find an optometrist near you to visit. It would be very exciting and helpful to millions of parents and kids who have this problem and are forced to give up recess to practice reading when they really can't see well and can't focus so they get in trouble!
