Hey doctors, I just went to the dentist (my first visit to a new dentist) and he has recommended having something done called "scaling and plaining" along with using a "laser" to clean out bacteria. Generally, I get my teeth cleanedevery six months and this is the first I've heard of either procedure. ??? So, I went on line and did a little research and there is some question as to the effectiveness of using the "laser". You have done shows on the "cosmetic" side of dentistry, how about something on the other side - Peridontal Disease. Causes, prevention, treatment and recommendations.
Thanks doctors!

If dental disease can cause you to be physically ill, why isn't dental insurance made part of the health care debate? Why doesn't health insurance include dental services?

Dental fear: I've lost my upper teeth and wear a denture. Not only do I now fear the dentist but I need to have all my lower teeth pulled. Can't afford treatment nor can I go visit a dentist out of fear.

As a sedation dentist, I would discuss all the different types of sedation that are offered in dentistry and how it can help people conquer their fears and overcome past painful experiences!

I have been miserable since Nov. I had periodontal disease, had to have the rest of a tooth removed from a root canal, had to have a new partial made (3 teeth) and I cannot wear it and have HORRIFIC bad breath! My dentist is trying but is not succeeding. I am depressed because all I do is spit and sputter when I talk, lisp, slur my words and even drool. It is so embarrassing and so obvious to me that I cannot hold a conversation with anyone anymore and it is causing me to withdraw! I am using Profresh for halitosis but it is not working. It returns in no time and is another reason why I can't speak to people. I have considered implants but my dentist has me petrified because he said it is a very painful procedure, but I am willing to try anything at this point. PLEASE doctors I need your help to get my life back! I have done some research and have found that periodontal disease can be linked to menopause and feel more women should be aware of this. I took decent care of my teeth but feel this IS another dwarf of menopause! I a only 58 but feel 78! PLEASE I NEED ADVICE!!!!!!!!!

HI, I'D LIKE TO ENGAGE ON TODAYS MOST CRITICAL SUBJECT AND THAT IS THE HUMAN SMILE. AS A YOUNG MAN OF AGE THIRTY I ENCOUNTERED THAT PEOPLES CONFIDENCE AS WELL AS HEALTH ARE BEING DESTROYED DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO SMILE. WE HAVE TO SMILE FOR OUR JOBS,KIDS, AND AMONGST THE DAY TO DAY PEOPLE WHO ACCEPT OR DONT ACCEPT A BAD SMILE. I LOST MY TWO MOLAR TEETH AT THE BOTTOM OF MY MOUTH ALONG WITH ONE TOOTH IN THE FRONT THAT HAS BEEN REPLACED WITH A BRIDGE. SHIFTING IS OCCURING AND IM ONLY IN MY THIRTIES; HOWEVER, THE BRIDGE CAN COME OUT AT ANY MINUTE DUE TO SHIFTING AND IT TAKES A TOLL ON MY ABILITY TO SMILE AT TIMES OR REALLY EAT FOODS THAT I HAVE TO BITE INTO. AN IMPLANT WOULD HAVE BEEN THE BEST PROCEDURE YET STILL IT'S TOO LATE. I WONDER IF THE DOCTORS CAN SAVE MY SMILE FOR THE MERE AND PRESENT FUTURE ON THE SHOW. PLEASE SAVE THE HEALTH AND LIVES OF THOSE WHO ARE UNFAMILIAR WITH DENTAL CRISIS CAUSE IT AFFECTS THE HEART AND THE MIND OF YOUNG AND OLDER ADULTS. THANK YOU, I LOVE THE SHOW I WATCH IT EVERYDAY WHEN IM AT HOME.
