So many people goto the gym for a while and back out because they are not getting the results they see other people are getting i.e. the celebrities etc.
This can be because of many things, one reason is so many people dont realise that you are only as good as what you eat so if you dont eat the right nutrients your body just will not grow no matter how much training you do, you may even end up injuring yourself.
I studied double sciences in School (GSCE's in the UK) and went on to study National Diploma in Sports and exercise sciences. I have done extensive research into the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system, the skeletal system and the skeletal muscles in the past 2 years.
I have also done research into sports physcology and I know that the reason behind people giving up is a motivation to results ratio, basically the results don't come fast enough for the motivation to keep strong and gym workouts get lower and lower so no results are gained at all and then heathly lifestyle finally clapses. If a healthy diet is not being continually processed then results will definitly not come because workouts and exercise is 80% diet, you are what you eat (as I said earlier). There is many other reasons, just aswell other people find it easier to put on muscle then other, we all have different somatotypes e.g.. Endomorph, Mesomorph, Ectomorph.
What I feel that we need to motivate people is an regular trial update of someone that is continually exercising and building muscle. This would be a long-term study and would last a minimum of 6 months but I feel this would be worth it and will get the general public motivated and determined because they will see an ordinary member of the public that is not an extreme athlete and has an average body type exercisng and seeing results and leading a healthly lifestyle of which I hope would trigger that loss of movitation in other people minds.
I want people to say "WOW.. look at this guy.. he had an average body 5 months odd ago and now look at him!!".. "I can do this, if he did, I can!"
I will gladly volunteer for this study if it were to become in operation. I have knowledge myself to prepare plans etc as I do have a CSLA Coaching qualification and a YMCA Level 1 assistant gym instructors qualification. I have already prepared exercise plans, diet plans, lifestyle plans (i.e.. when to sleep etc) for myself.
I feel that If this sort of study where to be regulary updated on the Doctors Live programme this would change the publics views on fitness and exercise and they will realise that there goals are achieveable!
I hope this is considered. Luke Young. United Kingdom
