Im a 48y/o black female , 5 years ago a pink dime shaped spot appeared on my cheek,you can see clear skin layer forming over it dail, but when I wash my face daily, it disappears and the spot looks fresh pink again, but with each year it gets kighter and lighter and now I have formed about 6 of these spots.the smaller ones are white and the larger ones are pink, im a med to light complexion that tans easily in the summer, thats when its more pronounced I have been to many dermatologist and receive the same medication over again, nothing works and they are not sure if it vitiligo or exzema, so they try the traditional medications, and I use the sunscreens, can you diagnose this for me, Ive never had any skin problems before , not even acne.

Here is my idea. For one show each month, setup satellite feeds so that doctors doing medical humanitarian work around the world can share their experiences with The Doctor’s television audience including what these faraway facilities treat the most and what they, surprisingly, may not be seeing at all. There should be four separate segments and facilities highlighted in each of these “Doctors Around The World” shows. Each segment within the same show should profile as varied and contrasted settings as possible. For example: a remote Canadian clinic, an urban southeast Asian hospital, a private physician practice in remote Eastern Europe, and a medical facility in the Australian Outback. Four segments would also allow each of The Doctors in the LA Studio to take turns taking the lead for one of the segments.

As the drug lyrica has made Fibromyalgia a little more heard of. But there are still lots of people that do not know what it is and how to believe someone when they are trying to tell people what is wrong.

I am 24 years old and a proud father of a 1 y/o, I am also diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. The last 2 years have been the hardest two years of my life.

Before I was diagnosed with Fibromyalgia I was a EMT in North Carolina I also was a volunteer firefighter with the dreams of one day being a flight medic for our local trauma center. I worked full time in the North Carolina dept. of corrections as a corrections officer.

I fell at work on the steps of the control center and my problems evolved from there. I started out by going to the ER the night of the fall and was diagnosed with a bruised knee. 1 Week later I was back at the ER with foot pain. I was diagnosed with a possible fractured toe. After about a week I went to another ER to be seen. The doctor there told me I had gout and sent me to a orthopedic. The orthopedic sent me for a blood test and a back MRI. Now April of 2008, 3 months past my original injury, The doctor told me my blood did not have the right chemical in it to cause gout. But The MRI showed I had a bilateral slipped disk in the L4, L5 disk space. After doing more test and the mylogram my surgeon decided I needed to have the damaged part of the disk removed.

After surgery 3 and 4 months later i was still in pain Except it had moved from my foot to sharp searing pains in my legs and muscle soreness. I also started having tenderness every were. I was sent to pain management were i never got a single ounce of hope with my pain issues. I went to the ER to receive shots after shots. This went on for 3 to 4 months. All my test were normal, nothing in my blood and no nerves compressed nothing causing the pain. The pain management doctor told me there was nothing she could due that there was no cause for my pain. The day she told me this I like to passed out. I could not believe no one believed me. My family was telling me it was in my head plus what the doctor had just said. I did the only thing I could due and That was to go see my Long time family doctor. He started to treat the pain and the tiredness. I was sent to sleep center and to have a EMG done on my legs and lo back. The doctor found nothing wrong and did a tender point exam and Diagnosed me with Fibromyalgia.

Now my family understands that there is no cause found yet. You just have to tell them when you hurt. I also am being treated by my family doctor who as helped me more than anyone else sense the back surgery. I still remain with lots of pain and symptoms but I am doing my best to manage for the sake of my family especially my 1 y/o daughter. I know the plans I had hoped for had to be put on the shelf but at least I am here with them.

I would like to see a show about the faces of Fibromyalgia. Its effects on your life and the sickness explained. Not told it is in your head.

This sickness ruin's peoples lives and the will. We fight pain and depression, Stomach problems, Tenderness, Trouble Sleeping and so much more. This sickness is still wildly debated by doctors. I know I do not debate it and i am sure others do not debate it either. We hurt there is nothing to debate. We can only teach those around us why it is not in our head.

Please help educate the nation with more info on all these topics so the suffers do not keep getting told it is in there head.

She was born with a ?myelomenengincele on her lower back and they sent her home with me. At about a month old they brought her back to the hospital to repair. Since it has become so common, I thought that maybe if you talked about it, it wouldn't be so scary. She has a great friend who was also born with SB but was not so fortunate. She is now in a wheelchair because of an operation for a thethered spine. I think that this would be a very informative segment to just raise the awareness.

My question is – what can we do now – I cannot find a doctor who is remotely interested in surgery.

Because of my son’s episodes and odd behavior he has been expelled from high school. He refuses to discuss this illness with teachers or peers. He is in independent study and is very lonely and sad most of the time.

With all this said, as a mother, I feel that I need to protect and help my son to have a happy healthy life. When he calls me in tears begging for help – it breaks my heart.
