Please pray for my Collie Mix, Tigger, who is in the doggie hospital right now. We adopted him at a doggie homeless shelter where he'd lived in a cage a year. Prior to us adopting Tiggs he'd been returned twice. Once since "too bossy" (he's a herding dog) & once since too big of a bark (locked in shed). He does levitate when he barks & he did herd my two Irish Setters yet we have issues too so a perfect fit. Cyndee & D.C. Irish Setters have passed away now at age 13 & 10.
I was a weekend receptionist at a no kill shelter & literally brought my work home with me bringing Tiggs home Saturday night to enjoy backyard each weekend. Then fostered him when when shelter manager gave puppies his run. My first male dog and a sweety pie. Who knew? I do now.
Some think adverse reaction rimadyl Tigger began after he & Lynn were attacked by two 80+ pound Golden Retrievers on a walk or fungal infection from bite attacked spleen. As well has bowel illeus.
Although, all symptoms are that of adverse reaction to rimadyl. We go for consult & to visit Tigger at 3:30 p.m. today. Tiggs was the picture of health before Golden Retrievers knocked Lynn down from behind and began attacking & biting Tigger and Tigger began rimadyl. Still was going on walks until rimadyl may have zapped his spleen or fungus from dog bites. Or rimadyl exacerbated.
When we left Tiggs at doggie hospital, since resembles shelter he lived in a year, he hung his head as if "OMG(osh)! I can't believe after living there for years they're returning me too." First night he ever spent away from home since we adopted him years ago was at doggie ER, January 3rd to 4th. Then the next day went to internist (next to ER) & was admitted for sonogram etc. Unusual place where by day other vets share building then by night a doggie ER.
In Tigger's honor I'm beginning B.I.T.E.S. (Be Informed Tigger Encourages Seniors): rimadyl bites. People don't think about adverse reactions to medications in dogs yet I've learned in a vet FDA 1997/1998 study that almost 5,000 dogs had adverse reaction to rimadyl and 651 died. Notation was made that many more dogs may have died that didn't go to vet for diagnosis. Please pray Tiggs won't die. Thank you.
So prayers, please, that Tigger gets lots of pets & hugs & on top of being sick doesn't think we orphaned him like he was returned by first two persons who adopted him and returned him. ALSO, PRAYERS FOR A COMPLETE RECOVERY. Thank you for any and all prayers.
Sincerely,
Tigger's adoptive mommy
