I too would like to see a show on Brain Aneurysm's. My wife suffered an Aneurysm on January 10th, 2012. She had a subarachnoid hemmorhage of the Carotid Artery. She had a very large rupture and was treated by an amazing team at University Hospital in Cleveland. My wife did have coil embolization to initially treat the aneurysm. My wife did have to go back in March and they used experimental Onyx 500 to obliterate the aneurysm. My wife had NO deficits from her aneurysm. She is one of the very lucky ones. My wife's mother also suffered an aneurysm at 52 and survived but did have major deficits. My wife had hers at 47. There is some hereditary or congenital factors and research must be done. I have to disagree with Julainenoel and her doctor. Their facts on coil embolization are just not correct. While it is true that coils do sometimes collapse it is nowhere near 80%. There have been studies on this procedure and with frequent MRA's it has very high success rates. Clipping of aneurysm's is the best method to date. The problem with clipping is getting to the location without causing any other damage, like having to go through the optical nerve. Some of the locations are very hard to reach and damage is caused. There is chance of rebleed with surgical clipping. Another thing people are not aware of are Vasospasm. Blood vessels do not like blood. These are the second leading cause of death after the initial rupture and after they treat the aneurysm, Vasospasm are 3-21 days post rupture. They will either use transcranial Doppler or by clinical signs. I can go on with a lot more information. I hope the doctors read this and decide to do a show on Brain Aneurysms. Any awareness will help.
